Learning 12 O'clocks
Re: Learning 12 O'clocks
thnx kowboy thats all i was looking for, i was out monday 3 hours straight and i got a little slow wheelie going, i picked it up from almost a dead stop and i had my foot on the rear break while popping the clutch and going up, i rode out a slowish wheelie and played with the brake a little, am i doing the right thing? or should i ease up with the brake? i got to balance point a few times and i started to get comfortable with the height the longer i went, practice is the answer now i need a camera man....anyone interested?
Re: Learning 12 O'clocks
sounds like you need to work on brake control for a while before you think about hitting 12. once you consistantly can hit bp then slowly bring it further and further back to get a feel for how much brake is needed to keep you from looping. during this process you will most likely
A. mousetrap
or
B. loop it
good luck and have fun

I havent had a lot of time to ride this summer, actually i get to ride my bike to work only lately...whooptido..CAN ANYONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME POINTERS ON STARTING TO LEARN 12 O'CLOCKS.... i mean i get the whole keep your foot on the brake thing but when should i apply it when im hittin the clutch to go up or when im up there...
search this forum dude.....seriously, it used to be a sticky at the top of hte forums on doing 12's....there are a million threads from 2003 about it. I'm sure you will find more information than you could imagine on the topic if you type it in the search.
Re: Learning 12 O'clocks
yeah i say take yourself seriously because so many ppl dont. I wish I could practice 2 hours a day I dont have a spot anymore. practice is a total bitch now.
dude you just really need to get it in your head to stab at the rear brake to save your *** cause at a certain angle and certain lower rpms your not gonna have enough engine brake to bring you back, assuming your close to stock gearing. when you first start to learn your gonna be raping that rear brake, but as you get better you will use less brake input AND less throttle input, you will c, practice.
