quick question,I have an R6, the guy I bought it off says it's geared down 1 tooth...

How many teeth do I have now? And what does that mean? is it better to have fewer or more teeth?

start your own thread.

to the sprocket size...you won't notice 2 teeth. i run a 60 on my f4i but i'm doing a lot of off peg stuff and a lot of off peg street stuff in which i don't use my handbrake so i need the extra engine brake.

just starting out, i would just use the 55 since it's cheaper, then after that you can find out what you like. hell, you can always just go 1 or 2 teeth down in the front to make up for having a 55 if you wanted a little more.

I'm running -1 with a 54 in the rear and love it. Great for the lot and still streetable. To me anything more would be overkill.

WTF? Call your local stealership ask what stock sprokets come on your bike, and then go find a calculator and -1 it...

Thanks
Find a company that makes a 55 and get that. That way your not torn between 54 and 56... 55 is right in the middle

Re: 54 tooth vs 56 tooth rear

on every f4i i have owned ive been -1 +14 (15, 60) and that was great for the lots and riding around town, but on my next bike im thinking of keeping it somewhat streetable so im gonna go with a stock front and probably somewhere around 50-54 in back.

Nah , its all about throttle control. Here is a guy rocking a stock 636, STOCK EVERYTHING , like I said its all about throttle control and practice. As for me on my 2002 R6 i runn -1 in front ,, +7 in the back. which in my opinion is plenty enough of gearing for the LOT and STREETS. Lots of FuN ! :YEAH

Re: 54 tooth vs 56 tooth rear

I think the 2 teeth difference isn't worth the investment. Either you go a little bigger or leave it the way it's now.
