Concave Tank?

I just got a new bike and was wondering a good way to concave the tank. Last time I tried it came out horrible.

Re: Concave Tank?

depends on the bike.....but in general a deadblow working from the gas cap back. some tanks are really hard to get smooth and not kink them, in those cases do the best you can then use bondo to smooth it out and paint it.

Re: Concave Tank?

i used a concrete block, and a few bricks stood on my seat and dropped them straight down(kinda eyeball it in order to line them up).....after a few times of lining it up the tank was nice and "concave"

i also used a 10lb sledge...the metal on metal really helps avoid craks and stuff

Re: Concave Tank?

used the heel of foot first....kicked in the cap, then used big dead blow....finished it out with a plastic headed hammer....used spray on truck bed liner..no bondo, no cracks or creases....first one i did myself...06 gsxr 600...ps make sure u leave the cap in when ur denting...and leave tank on bike and test fit ur butt....(only took mine oiff to spray it)
