First day of REAL Progress....

Ok heres the deal. Late in November, I bought a 2002 R6 with the plans of having it be a lot bike. It was too cold by then to ride it, so through the winter I did ****, caged it, 12 bar, and sprocket (+12 which was stupid as hell). So finally it warmed up, about the 3rd nice day of riding, my foot slipped off the back peg doing a stand up at about 45 mph.

So with a combination of the overkill rear sprocket throwing the bike up too fast, and wrecking it, I was scared as ****. I actually havent ridden the bike but a few times due to the fact that it scared the **** out of me. The wreck was just the final straw. So its been sitting for about 3 to 4 months. I got a new 6R, and can ride out 1st gear on it, so I figured **** the R6, im selling it.

Well something gave me a wild hair up my *** to go down the street to the industrial area with it, and make sure that I was 100% I wanted to sell it because there was supposed to be some kid coming to look at it today.

Anyways I took it down there, and holy ****...its amazing what you can learn when you actually take your time and dont just drop the ******* clutch at 18 grand. I was flirting with BP all day, and I learned how to use my rear brake fairly decent. I actually went past BP a couple times....scared the **** out of me, I did the old leg kick out to each side and slammed it down, lol.

Every since I saw my first stunt video about 2 years ago, ive wanted to be able to throw down spreaders and all types of slow ****. Once I got a bike to do it on, it was just a lack of motivation...

One of the biggest things that kept me from riding for the longest time (aside from being scared of the bike) was that I have no one to go to lots with. I know where everyone stunts at, but its all Dan Jackson and a bunch of pro status dudes.

I was just wondering if anyone learned and rode by themselves? I dont want to roll up in the lot with all the bad *** guys with an unscraped 12 bar and not being able to hit BP lol...

Anyways the whole point of this post was that now I know what people say when the talk about stunting being an addiction...Im already telling myself I better go back every night this week so I dont lose the feel for it...

there is only one guy here that rides now, but we're not cool, so i ride alone, therefore is the reason i dont push myself, theres alot of guys that ride fiddys and whatnot, and i mean stunt fiddys, so that has been a ton of fun, but as far as my big bike goes, all i can do is the basics

+1 Good on you for getting out there again... drag a friend along and get him to video you... nothing like a video to help you gauge what you're doing right/wrong...

Re: First day of REAL Progress....

progress = motivation

some days i DRAG myself to the lot to practice and then it feels like ive taken a step back in progress. some days i cant wait to get out and it feels like ive taken 2 steps forward. the motivation comes from landing the trick or pulling off something youve been learning. at some point it can feel like a job, but the reward is showing off, riding with friends, teaching others, or whatever you enjoy.

not too many stunt around here so i ride at the lot alone. i think it good sometime u know your limited dont have to worry about somebody else. downside is nobody around to help you went you crash.

Re: First day of REAL Progress....

Yea I found out today that riding by yourself isnt all that bad...when I used to skate and ride BMX, I was the kind of person that only got better if there was better people around me pushing me to keep up...but hell, the only reason I went home today was because my hand was so sore I couldnt take it anymore lol...

Re: First day of REAL Progress....

i ride with three other guys and i am the bottom guy they have all scraped 12 a least once and are at least decent riders. riding with them i have gotten a hundred times better. im not the **** or anything, but i can keep it slow around 11 oclock or so, and now im starting to do spreaders and rolling burnouts and a bunch of **** i never could do before. recently i rode with someone i hadnt ridden with in a while and saw how much better than him i had gotten. its wierd but i hadnt noticed for tryin to keep up with the other guys. its good for me to ride with better riders.

i strongly recommend u to ride at least in the presence of other people, just for safety's sake. **** it if ur the beginner in the mix with a bunch of pros. if they see ur dedication i'm sure that'll bring some respect. hell, they were beginners at one point. just stay out of their way so u dont pull a squid move and crash into them. i know that if i get damn good, i'll encourage beginners to come ride with me... just stay the **** outta my way, hee hee.

I would love to go ride with all those dudes. It was only after I went to watch Dan Jackson do some filming for AFLS 3 that I started rollin stoppies..I can only roll them for about 20 feet, but it was after that I started...I dont know if that just got me pumped or if watching their techniques was what did it, but it worked...

Thing is, if I bumped in to someone and got invited or got the hint that they dont mind people that arent very good out there, I would def. go...I just dont want to roll up into someone elses turf and start throwin down lame **** right in the middle...lol

Not to mention, I know those guys have permission to ride the lot they ride, and I dont know if they want people just showing up and possibly ******* that up for them..

bruh... man up and just ask the guys. they're just people, man. let them know ur starting off and that u just wanna practice with some people in case u get hurt, and that u'll stay outta their way and respect their lot by not bringing anyone around. staying out of their way and respecting their lot is the key. like i said, they're just people.

Re: First day of REAL Progress....

Congrats on the progress! Im still a rook myself and had some of the same problems. When I fist started stuntin I had no1 to ride with and it killed my progress cuz when other people are around you tend to step your game up a lil. Im 50-50 on the riding alone part. Its really important to have some1 around just incase but when you wanna ride and no one else does then f**k them and GO! Just dont go all out. Just practice what you already know and sharpen those tricks. GO ride with the pros!!! Just be straight up with them. Say "Hey, im a rook with no one to ride with, can I tag along to learn." 99.9% of pros will be totally cool with it and that .01% I bet are riding by themselfs 24/7. I had been asked by a buddy of mine to cross the bridge to Oakland and ride w/ him and a few of his Ruff Ryders and I blew him off cuz I sucked in my opinion and didnt wanna get clowned on, until this last sunday. Yes, my ***** dropped and some hair showed up and I went. I got so many tips my head was about to pop and I got invited back! Best choice i've ever made riding hands down. Biker love to help as long as you show them you got that Super Itch to learn. I hope you keep on learnin and keep on lovin it. Good luck with everything and ride safe!... Well I guess the whole ride safe part doesnt work when your stuntin... Well you get what I mean.

Re: First day of REAL Progress....

congrads on the progress, and I was in the same boat. I just went up to the guys and asked if they minded if i used a small part of the lot if it was ok and that I was just starting off. They kinda stood back and watched me and it was embarassing but after about an hr or 2 they all came over and gave me advice.....Now i ride with them and they are straight as hell...you just never know all the new friends you might make if you never say hi ya know?

just my .02

Listen man I live in the MOUNTANS!!!!
There is NO ONE out here!!
I started out alone!
No one to watch, no one to learn from, no one to help me at all!
And it sucked!
After I got to the point where I was going to lots I decided to bring friends along to tape **** and take pictures.
That did help!!

But I agree with everyone else on here the best thing in the world you can do is surround yourself with people that can kill shyt!!!!!

Everyone was a SQUID at one point or another! And the best riders in the world are still people just like you and me!
And if you live in a place where you have access to people that can really ride then go up and talk to them. Express the interest to learn and get better! I am sure they will be glad to help you out. I always like to see a new guy rocking slow, getting better, and smiling like a jack ***!
If these guys are pros then I am sure as long as you respect them and stay out of there way so they can ride. They will be glad to help out!

Who knows in a years time you may be handing them there ***!!

Anyway man congrats!
Keep on pushing!:YEAH

Dude.. you sound like you have the right attitude and the right respect to ride with those dudes... Maybe head up their and watch the first time.. just to talk.. they might ask you why your not riding.. then you say you suck.. lol.. then they will say dont be soo foolish... and then your in like flynn!!!
