HELP! is this a big problem?

Im going to go buy a bike this afternoon when I get of work. It's an 01' F4I. Minty bike not stunted. only like 11K miles. The only thing that he told me to be aware of is that the "Cam Chain Tentioner" makes a little rattle noise and you can only hear it when the bike is at idle and you rev it up a bit. He told me that he took it to honda and they said its normal that all F4I's do this after 4 or 5K miles and that even if he replaced it.. that it would do it again after a few thousand miles. Is this true? I know that if it breaks.... there goes the motor. and Ive never owned a F4I so any feedback would be helpful being that im supposed to be picking this thing up in 8 hrs! thanks

if its not bad yet......which you said it wasnt it should be fine. just buy a manual cam chain tensioner and get that put in asap. the stock hydraulic ones are garbage

oh ok 50 bucks isn't bad. Dont you have to pull the motor and split the case to do it tho? I know a hydraulic one you do. Not sure how the manual ones work.

I wouldn't ride it home if its making any wierd noises . My cam tensioner went out and I didn't know and it messed my engine up.

get an APE one they are $53 and you will need a 5mm allen socket and a swivel for the rachet...would be super easy to get to if you take the throttle bodies off but i have girly hands and squeezed by but cut the **** outta my hand on em
