Re: tire change

its not too bad after you get the hang of it. I hate doing it though, becuase I'm lazy. You should look into getting one of those big manual tire changers, makes it a little easier, not too expensive either.

I'm too lazy for that though, I just take my wheel off, go about 2 miles down the road from my house, and pay some guy 2 bucks to change my tire

Re: tire change

Try to work a deal out with your local shop. Tell them you change tires a lot and if they can help you out.

Re: tire change

doing it completely by hand you still need basic hand tools made for changing a tire. you need a beed breaker. you can buy a manual tire change machine ranging form 500-1200 bucks. and you can buy a air compressed one for couple grand. I am buying a very nice set up manual tire change machine for 700. its good deal. the website is www.nomartirechanger.com they have quality products at good price

Re: tire change

2 tire irons, 2 2x4's, 1 4x4. put the 2x4s under the wheel so you dont damage the rotors. take out the valve stem. place the 4x4 on the edge of the tire as close as the wheel as possible. jump on the 4x4 to break the bead. once the beads broke turn the wheel over and do the otherside. then pry the tire off with the irons. thats how i change mine. its hard at first but the you get used to it.

Re: tire change

i use a small crow bar ,the one that is shaped like a question mark....

it has a pry bar type end on it i just put a big screw driver in between the rim and the tire and then i put the crow bar in between the rim and the screw driver and squeeze the two together and walla it pops the bead every time

i can change a tire in less then 3 minutes once it's off the bike

a little liquid detergent on the new tire makes it slide on like butta

Re: tire change

just lay a board or ramp over bead and drive over it with a truck then use crowbar or screwdrivers to get it back on

Re: tire change

i use dirt bike tire spoons, the 12 inch ones that are like $4 a piece. and i have a 4 foot 2x2 steel square rod i place on the bead and jump on to break it.. works 100% of the time.. spray some windex on that bitch for removal and installation. takes me 5 minutes to change a tire.

Re: tire change

i consider myself fairly good at gettin a tire on and off. i use my truck to pop the beads(drive over the side of the tire) and get the tire off really kwik...gettin back on i use a motion pro tire iron, and a flat head and windex.....sometimes a used tire with a fucked up bead is a bitch to get back on. make sure u push the tire in the channel of the rim when puttin it back on, or u will break the bead tryin to pry it on.

search youtube, and some british dude shows u how to do it real kwik.

+1

I even used my lowered car with low profile tires to pop my beads

Then use motion pro 11" spoons to pull the tire off

use windex or soapy water to lube up the tire, and swap the new one on

And typically I dont even have to remove the valve core to pop the bead on.. I just drive up to my local gas station with free air, hook up to their thing and inflate it to around 30psi to pop both beads on, then drop it to 24psi and roll!

Its actually WAY easier to change my f4i tire then it is my crf 150 tire.... Stupid dirt bike tires are hard to do.. F4i tire it just like butter

Re: tire change

I use a vise and a 2 x 4 to break my bead. That way is even easier then the bead breaker that I bought. And I use two bars and a pry bar. It's pretty easy. Use a bunch of soap and just step on it when I put the new one on.

Re: tire change

1 quart of kerosene, 1 rusty pocket knife, 1 Bic lighter and 2 warm beers!
take the pocket knife stab the tire repeatedly until your out of breath, then take the kerosene and dump it on the tire (be careful not to get it on the wheel)... light that bieatch on fire then drink the hot beer!! Then go to salvage yard and buy a new wheel with a good tire on it!! .....(WORKS EVERY TIME!!)
