Re: tire change

i use a pair of tire spoons (got mine $10 shipped off ebay), a bed post or a car to break the bead, and a little bit of dish soap to make the new bead go onto the rim. its a piece of cake the 2nd or 3rd time u do it.

i just go to my local stealership and jack some tires from their tire dumpster, you know, all the nice minty tires people dont want cuz they are "low on tread"; ride em for a few months till their dead. ill never buy a tire or pay to have em changed ever again

Re: tire change

quote=Towlieee;2791092]hey one thing that makes that last little bit easier

Is when your putting the last bit on, the opposite side, push the tire down so its in the middle ofe the rim, and not on the outside.. does that make sense?[/quote]

it made it alot esier... i kept getting real close to ripping the tire, until i figured this out:YEAH
hell of alot esier!
thanks

Re: tire change

Dude , it is easy just let the air out and put your tires on your truck or car and have it pop n shake it lil bit ...use any bead or screwdriver to take it off then put ALOT of silicone spray ...it is verryyyyyyyy slippery you ll put it in no time !

i do something similar, i put the rim on the floor, wedge the end of a long 2x4 UNDER my deck, put a piece of 4x4 on the bead edge of the tire and as if the deck is a fat kid on the other of the see saw, the 4x4 is the middle, and i am pushing down on the other side, this breaks the bead...from there on out i use irons or screwdrivers

what tools should i need etc. etc.
I've got 3 - 16" (I think) motion pro tire irons with an S-bend and a bead breaker from harbor freight. I think I've got about $80 invested. Once the wheels are off I can swap tires in 10 minutes or so without much effort and without scratching ****.

I've been changing my own tires for 6-7 years. It's a breeze with those tools.

I've used flat head screw drivers in a pinch, but I'm not a pro with those, it's a real PITA for me and I scratch ****. I've got a friend who uses them no problem.

I flip bikes and part out wrecked bikes. I change and pull a lot of tires, but don't have the money for even a no-mar tire changer, much less something professional. I've seen friends break the bead with screwdrivers, 2x4s, car jacks wedged under a truck with the bike wheel/tire, all kinds of **** if I start thinking about it...um, using the kickstand from another bike, all types of ****.

Re: tire change

when having trouble seating the bead (filling with air) simply spray the **** out of the bead with water.. also bouncing it and rotating it will help. i normaly let my tires chill in sunlight for 30 minutes and they warm up n expad, makes em alot easier to mount and set the bead.

Re: tire change

easy ,just cut the lever at that scratch and when you add the extra peice just put it at a 45 degree angle so it raises the end the cable goes in

may be make it a little longer because the angle will make the 3/4 inch peice not extend it quite 3/4

and when you weld the stock peice back on put it level like factory but it will be higher and then make the cable holder sit a little higher so the cable isn't cutting in to the adjuster tube thingy

..................................==============.. ...................................
.................................................. ..............=...............................
.................................................. ...................=..........................
.................................................. .........................============

ignore the dots and just look at the lines
