Can a bike hold you back?

Just curious to hear people's thoughts on if a bike, old or new can make learning or progressing harder/easier?

For example, carb or fi, 600 - 1000, old, new...etc

I have seen people kill it on anything, but my question is in regards to learning or progressing, not after your already killin it.

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

i wouldn't call it holding you back just might take more seat time to get it. but yes there are advantages and disadvantages to carbs vs. fi or 600 vs.1000
my friend stunts a 88 honda hawk dunno why but he said d1 ryan did circles on it with in like 5 min of riding so its don't really matter the bike skill is skill

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

A 636 or f4i definately make learning easier......thats a fact

Again I said learning...once you get it down, bike shouldn't matter...skills come into play

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

Thats what I was wondering. My boy who was decent already, went from a 900 to an F4i and his game isnt even on the same plane as before. he can do so much more **** its like a completely different rider.

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

Can someone explain what makes the F4i such a great stunter? They're nowhere near as popular in the UK as they are Stateside. I'm truly curious. I mean, so many stunters can't all be wrong!

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

f4is are extremely tough, cheap, parts are plentiful,
they are pretty much worthless for anything else
636, 954 600rr are all better in my opinion
its all about how much $$$ you want to spend IMO
certain tricks are harder with certain bikes, but any trick can be done on most any bike........

jason pullen has proven this

they have a very easy to find bp ,and when you get bp it is very easy to keep it there.also it has the strongest subframe so when you gorilla scrape learning to 12 it will take the abuse.finally when you crash it they dont break **** like the newer bikes because everything is thicker & stronger.the new bikes are made to save as much weight thus everything is much thiner..

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

My friend has a 636 and its so nice to stunt. The bike is light and does whatever you want. I havent seen it take a beating so i cant comment on the durability, I have seen some f4is get the **** beat out of them and still keep coming back.

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

well i have a 05 636 and it took a good beating... one of the guys riding wit us put his wheelie down too late and slammed me and a 07 gsxr 750 going about 65 70 mph and that gsxr thing came apart faster than hell parts everywhere and mine just broke plastics and mirrors... no damage to the frame or anything else but i will say the peg brackets break eay as hell... especially the shifter side....

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

I was doing **** on My F2 my first week my buddys with newer lighter & faster bikes couldn't do after a year. It depends on the rider. Some bikes are better to learn on than others but most sport bikes can be stunted some just take more skill & seat time to get **** down.

Re: Can a bike hold you back?

Yeah gotta say the frame/subframe on these f4is are pretty ******' strong. There's actually like...brace bars that go from left to right on the frame over the motor and I think there's one in the back. Haven't ever seen that on any other bike before. People tell me the bp is very large for the f4i's...is this true? *shrugs*
