You shouldn't have to go through the relay. My 929 is done like that and it's not through the relay

Yeah, I'ld have to agree that most higher end oils are probably infused w/ some stabilizers, but if you've ever seen one of those Lucas oils demo. units that has the stack of gears in the plexi-glass box, you'ld know more what I'm saying. There's 4 or 5 plastic gears stacked on top one another with a crank handle that comes out of the side of the box. The bottom gear is about half submersed in the oil, there's two complete units, one w/ convention oil, one w/ Lucas stabilizer added. When you crank the unit w/ conventional oil, the oil climbs the gears through contact, it only makes it about to the bottom of the third gear, and stops climbing. The unit w/ the stabilizer added climbs the WHOLE stack of gears w/ a much thicker coating. You can actually feel the difference when you crank it, makes it feel like the gears have a rubber coating or something. Anyways, sorry for the book ^^, just thought I'ld share.

Re: parking lot and high temperature

like i said im not an expert but that is what the bike shop people say. that car oil doesnt have the right stuff for a clutch pack. but i know people that use car oil and they start and go every time. the oil just seems thin when changing out.

its useing energy conserving oil that cause **** to slip... cheap *** 10-30 from the gas station, look at the little circle logo on the back it says SAE in the middle, if it says energy conserving in the circle, do not use it

Re: parking lot and high temperature

now speaking of the people that run their fan constantly

i was told to really not worry about doing that if the bike isnt overheating and causing problems, to just let it kick on when it needs to

mine hardly ever seems to while at the spot, and it runs at around 212 most the time i think

my question would be as follows

636 radiators have tabs on each side (left and right) where the fan is mounted

would it be worthwhile to hook up another fan backwards as to pull out the heat and the other fan being ran normally to push in cool air? essentially cycling the air flow thru the radiator along with running engine ice?

just a thought i could be wrong here

I mount one more fan which is working all the time on lot and original fun starts working after 15 minutes, before it was after 5

i'm not familiar with engine ice but if the 2nd fan u speak of is extracting air from the engine bay then it wouldnt benefit you at all. it would be bad, actually. the fan is there to suck in cool air from the surroundings to cool the coolant. if ur bringing in air from the engine bay, u'll be running hot air through the radiator's coils, which would warm up the coolant... not a good thing. you could just put a 2nd fan on and have it flow air in the same direction as the first fan or perhaps you could put a fan elsewhere around the engine bay so it could blow hot air into the atmosphere but it wouldn't be necessary. i wouldn't bother with the 2nd option unless you just enjoy trying new stuff.

back to the original topic, my fan is wired to stay on unless the bike is turned off. the fan shutting on and off is normal. it turns on when the engine is hot, and turns off when it's cooled it off enough.

engine bay air is lower temperature than coolant
