Noob Question?

I'm wanting to get into stunting more, but still really new to it all.

I haven't gotten into wheelies yet, but doing easier things like sitting on the tank, standing on the bike, superman, etc.

I guess my question is two parts:

1. What other type of stunting can be done with the exception of wheelies? (I'm a lot more comfortable screwing around going at normal speeds like tank sitting, superman, etc than I am with anything else just yet)

2. Where would I be able to go to get some good information on starting wheelies? I've seen videos on youtube and stuff, but none seem to provide the information needed for me to feel comfortable starting out. Any ideas? Thanks in advance all.

just go do it. practice for hours at a time getting the front wheel up even if its two inches. that way when you do get it you will be like dammit this is easy.

thats the current problem, I don't even know how to practice it... I was told that my bike isn't going to do a power wheelie, so I justhave to learn how to clutch it...

I just kind of started doing wheelies myself. I can honestly say I have been out a total of six days this year learning small "weeee's" now and have learned how to clutch it up alright. I spent about three days power wheeeing and getting used to the front end becoming light and about one yonking the clutch and getting used to the front end jerking up and another two lifting the front higher/longer. Personally, I hit about 9K RPM, quickly rolled off (fork jounce/compression) and quickly rolled on (fork rebound/expansion) to power them up in first. For clutching I usually hit 5.5K RPM, roll on as I disengage and keep rolling until I engage again (with one finger). I have no idea what the RPMs are at when launching for I do it by sound...maybe 8K-10K?

Okay... first off... great information to know, and great post... haha.. including the clarification between myself and others.

Second off, I'd love to learn how to ski... actually just saw my buddy doing it yesterday and it seems pretty cool... just need to figure out how to start.

Third, when you're at 5.5k rpm, are you in 1st, or 2nd? and when you say clutch up... do you just pull the clutch in and release real quick, or is it more "Artful" than that?

Re: Noob Question?

Yeah... it's all a process.

I didn't do anything to him on there, but I'm part owner of the place, so I don't know if he's going to do the whole "guilty by association" thing. I was happy watching him post... he's ****** hilarious.

I guess it'll take time for me to get the ***** to really get it up there, find balance point, etc and start messing around... I'm sure that once I can get it up on one wheel, it's all downhill from there.

It is much more simple than it looks (as I am learning about wheee's/wheelies now). I started at about 60MPH. Start with a side you feel more comfortable on and keep that foot on that side peg, stand, throw your other leg on that side, get your weight on the tank, put your transfer foot down followed by the other. Your transfer leg should be the first to be on the ground and last to leave. Once you are comfortable with that, throw your outside leg strait up in the air. Then you can start doing the other side, other methods, etc.

I am in first as of now. Once I get close to BP (balance point) I will start hitting second. Theres no art to the clutch - yank 'er in slip 'er out (fast).

Transfer foot being the one that went over the bike, or the one thats been on that side the entire time? and how bad do I need to worry about new shoes after doing this each time? My friend just did it yesterday and burned through his... but I don't know how bad they were before, ya know?

When I pop the clutch, am I trying to keep my RPMs steady at 5.5, or just as I'm accelerating, do it real quick? Sorry for all the Q's, but I've already learned more on here being signed up for an hour than I have talking to all my friends... lol

Re: Noob Question?

learn on a dirtbike and then transfer it to the street bike, never power wheelie it only gets you into bad habits. all the gay stuff your doing right now actually is sorta good cuz it gets you comfortable moving around your bike so keep doing it just dont let anyone see you. skiing isnt something u learn u just do it its not like your actually putting all your weight on your feet. if you ever think about getting metal plates for your shoes to make sparks while you skitch then just shoot yourself now. learn on a dirtbike for real, borrow a friends something to get the feel of it then you can start on the big bike. if you truely value your life then sell that bike and buy a ping pong table. riding bikes in general is very dangerous, stunting bikes is extremely dangerous and you WILL crash and you WILL get hurt and theres a good chance you will DIE. think about your family and **** before you start doing this stuff. if you have come to terms with all that then pull the clutch and let it fly.

I miss the bluntness of New Yorkers... (I'm from the east coast)

Yes, thats the reason I've been doing stuff like this.l.. squid or not.. just to start off small. Get comfortable with my bike, moving at speeds, etc. Not to be like "Hey look at me! I can stunt!", but more for my comfort level moving around, etc. I figure I gotta start somewhere, and since I'm not just going to jump into clutching my bike up to BP, I might as well start SOMEWHERE

Tried this on the way home from work and the bike just kinda jerked a bit in the front and revved for a quick sec, but didn't come up off the ground at all.... I'm sure I just didn't do it right, but any ideas where I could have gone wrong?
