Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals
Re: Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals
Actually Jesse was doing surf step to christs too... but I swore I saw colton do a 270 endo-- was I seeing things or maybe that just wasn't in his final run? i can't remember when or where, but I swore I saw it & nobody else has even mentioned it. Either way, I didn't recall damn near any other doing that ****! The kid most definitely won his place in 1st, no questions!! It was extremely obvious that he had been working his little *** off training & preparing for this event, probably more than anyone else, and it showed! He absolutely earned it.
Also, I understand views on both sides of the appearance issue... while the purpose is a noble one for the advancement of the professionalism of the sport, I too have slight personal qualms as to it being something that points are DEDUCTED for, outside of extreme cases.. what I WOULD agree with 100% is additional ponts being ADDED for appearance... it would be an easy way to snag a few bonus points, and an equal if not better incentive IMO. So it's not really judged, but it is rewarded. People will still step on board if it is of concern to them.

From what I've been hearing, appearance shouldn't even be an issue up for discussion. It is just a part of professional sports. They are performed for a crowd, generally, so it is known and accepted you come prepared to be on display. Pros know that's how it is, amateurs figure it out or they don't become pros.
It's all good.
It's all good.
Re: Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals
Agreed absolutely in my own opinion. But the issue of personal style came into play for several others at the event, even some I really thought had looked decently sharp & indeed coordinated with their bike to an extent, but was apparently of a personal style that was not necessarily as "professional" as some others do. I myself am all for having a sharp image, I just think it should be rewarded when applied, not deducted for unless it is blatantly disregarded. Those who don't will of course suffer already in learning the hard way what the cameras & sponsors do & don't like, I just don't think it is necessary to fault them points-wise for a non-skill factor unless an extreme case. If so, the standards or at least expectations should be addressed more strongly beforehand. If someone doesn't care about picking up sponsors or being in photos, but work hard at their art & have mad skill, it shouldn't keep them from winning.

some people are unbelievable......
if you werent at the comp, you should just keep your mouth shut and buy the DVD when it comes out. then judge for yourself.
how about Aaron Colton was the ONLY one in the finals to do
1. a switchback christ (260ft area)
2. 180 highchair endo
3. right foot on left peg touchin nothing else (dont know the name of it)
4. surf, step to christ
he also did stand up NH circles and 50/50 circles. along with so many other tricks that he was FLAWLESS on. i can only think of 1 mistake he made. POINT BLANK, he DESERVED to win and NO OTHER RIDER WAS ARGUIN IT!!!!
the top 5 were ALL great runs. this was in my opinion the best set of runs ive ever seen in 1 comp. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE and it was good chillin with old and new faces.

-half assed, didnt stand up, weak shaky kneeds standing on the seat excuse for a switchback christ should have been more damaging to his score than helpful. that was WACK!-
2. 180 highchair endo
this he did do, and is also the only person ive ever seen even do!! much props!
3. right foot on left peg touchin nothing else (dont know the name of it)
-oh please he only did a quater of a circle during the actual comp, thats as lame as standing on the pegs and callin it a christ!!
what one does in practice and what they do during a comp two seperate things-4. surf, step to christ
-since when has this even been a seperate trick are you kidding me? thats like a half assed attempt at a leap of faith (a 5 year old trick need i remind people) and even this amazing step to christ was again half *** weak kneed, shaky and should have hurt his execution score more than helped the overall-
sorry aaron i dont mean to put you on blast, like i said your my friend and its not against you at all.. i just wanna help sort fact from fiction. and i think you ll agree with what i was saying also.. at least i hope you would..
and before people start callin me out on things i just wanna point out again that I rode quite sub-par this past weekend, much like everyone else there IMO and i think we could all as a whole use a lot of work on our execution of tricks, and that at very least the execution judge needs to be more clear about how, and why things are scored the way they are.

Shaky legs or not that was pretty damned good considering the area, damaging to his run?? Damn dude you are out of your mind.
High winds all day, short area what do you expect man? Only thing damaging was your riding!! Re: Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals

Or Ill Think About It And Make All You Haters Like Kane Wait..and Ill Show You Shaky Legs..your Crazy..and Thats That...but Ill Say This..im Pissed At Alot Of Things That Went Down With The Comp..there Was Alot Of Peeps That Should Of Made It That Didnt....and Then Some And Then Some..i Cant Talk...pissed Off.
Re: Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals
hold up a second, i never said i didnt think aaron deserved it, i really do think he rode better than everyone else that day, and agree that he should have won.
my gripes had nothing to do with him, it has everything to do with the real question we should be asking which is why that so many big name, talented riders all rode subpar at xdl. was it the weather? the area? nervousness? mental stability.. from what i saw no one rode like themselves, or anywhere near this full cababilites. and thats where my extension gripes come in
i wasnt singling out colton at all, his name was just one that was brought up by someone else a few pages ago.
i could diasect my own weak, shaky kneeds, inconsistent run as well but it would be pointless as, I already know how I rode, and how I feel about it.
a person can point out opinions without being a hater now-a-days its ridiculous. lol

Re: Aaron Colton Takes First Place at XDL Championship Finals
I could care less really, it all boils down to getting free trips around to visit my friends, have a great weekend, and be a part of something that is making the sport progress. What have you done lately other than talk **** about something you dont even attend.
