Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
I work out everyday and still find time to ride. I split my routines up between long and short days. Stunt on the short days.
Mon - chest/ 40min eliptical
Tue -Back / 40 min eliptical
Wed- eliptical
Thur - tris-shoulders/ 40 min eliptical
frid- bis/ eliptical
sat and sun just eliptical
I blew out my back and cant do legs anymore, or that would have fallen in there.
I seriously have only missed 3 days this entire year, I think I may have a problem, but I used to be fat, and now Im not and never going back. Its been 4 years!!! Oh and yes, your riding will improve the better shape your in.

i use to work out like a madman 5 days a week for 3hrs then i started doing drugs and gave up. long story short had to get surgery on my shoulder. started boxing, still not lifting weights like i would want too
am im thinking its because i work 2nd shift. i despise getting up tired going to work-out get tired. lay around house for 1-2 hrs then go to work for 8 sometimes 12 hours in a factory.
i think i need another job but its too easy and pays to good to leave
i can never make up my mind about ****, this sucks

Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
This is kinda like a dual-topic:
I was wondering if anyone else has taken time off riding to get into a weight lifting routine?
I kind of let my body go to crap the past few years-eating crap, smoking, drinking-Didnt really care about working out-figured riding was enough of a workout.
A buddy of mine got me to sign up at Golds Gym about 2 months ago. I quit smoking, stopped drinking sodas and fast food, and I'm really into this weight lifting stuff. I've been going 4-5 times per week since then--it feels real good and I've noticed a considerable change in appearance and strength in only 2 months of consistent lifting (I took before and after pics)...BUT, I've barely had 1 or 2 decent stunt sessions since I started lifting so my seat time has been crap or close to it.
I'd like to merge riding back into my routine--I kind of lost some interest in stuntriding all alone--strange because I used to not care--
Maybe taking some time off to get back in shape is a good thing--its different and exciting changing your body. I enjoy working and seeing real progress.
So I was just wondering what everyone elses view is--Ever just feel like doing something different NOT related to motorcycles? I found an escape by working out--anyone else take some time off then get back into the game maybe as a better rider?

It is a tough balance the time can be found but if you get into training even if not professional just for you it becomes obbsessive and , getting hurt from either will set you back I am not really much of a stunter but I am still learinng , the thought of injuries keeping me from weights is aparant but its a gamble injuries suck they waste all your progress, and the road back to where you were is hell cause you know what it will take to regain what you lost, however I am reluctant to sit at home and scratch my *** but sometimes you have to. Take it with a grain a salt
It 's funny just yesterday i heard a couple guys from my school wanting to compete in a competiton they were ,totally into the lifestyle I walk in the locker room they look at me and say your competing , I laughed and said not like this , but it made me want to train 6 days a week again and get back into it full force .
Do what feels right, weights can get tiring too keep changing your routine after you made progress that your happy with to keep your body guessing.
good luck

Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
same problem mine is excess bone on my "acromioclavicular" joint ha say that 10 times fast, its the shoulder where the clavicle meets the small shoulder end bone , the bone has cysts from grinding together the doctor says its a chronic ailment power lifters get. They can drill out the bone an smoothen it out but you can easily get a reoccurence , and your out for 6 months before lookin at a gym or ridin. I still got it just gota lift easy on chest now both my shoulders are poppin it does suck
Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
those execises really helps im doin 3 exercise 3 set each right after my chest and my shoulder workout. my right shoulder was hurt 3 months ago and after i did those rotator cuff exercise it helps me get bak in the game. right now im stuck at 235 on military should press. if my shoulder get better i might be able to push some more weight. by the way by being fit that really helps on stunt riding and most important is streching.
Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
Thats exactly the problem im havin right now. After workin all day and then goin home and boxing and liftin for a couple hours im to damn tired to do anything else. Im done workin out and eatin dinner and everythin by 8, just to damn tired to do much else afterwords. And if i do sit around and rest for a min and then go out late or ride late at night i wanna kick myself in the ***** for not goin as hard workin out. **** sucks but u gotta do what u gotta do. I know i aint ever gonna be some great *** stunter or even on the motogp lol but i just try to balance this **** as a release. Otherwise, if i dont do it i start goin nutz.
Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
I def say u can ride and lift both durin the week. it may take some killer disciplin but if ur goin to the gym already daily and have changed ur habits enough u can do it again. Go to the gym before work and then ride after. if u are goin daily then with cardio daily, arms, chest, legs, back, each one hard one day then abs hard 3-4 times a week u should def be under an 1-11/2 hrs. as long as the equipment is available. if u like to do everything too much it may not be lettin ur muscles rest.. ive been there and done that. i get so much more outta heavy lifting each area just once a week. just my thoughts.. and props to all that take care of themselves... its awesome to find guys that do it
Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
I don't even ride as much as I used to and it seems like it gets to be less as the months go by. However, I travel on business alot but still find time to work out 6 days a week. I do cardio every day..that's a must. Too many good things to eat out there. I then alternate between chest/arms - back/shoulders - stomach/neck - core exercises rinse, lather, repeat. Dips all around my friends.
Cardio: 30 minutes treadmill after 15 minute warmup on Elliptical daily
Yeah, I'm an old man...and maybe that's why I concentrate more on getting to the gym than on riding. Although the thought of scraping a highchair at 60 years of age would be bitchin'. :YEAH

Re: Stop Stunting to Lift Weights?
lift for an hour 3 times a week to stay healthy and feel strong...play hoops all winter...ride everyday. days i lift just gotta be careful bc i'ma little weak for some tricks.
makes you tougher to, as far as falling goes. i've now joined the land of the effed up shoulder people, so no lifting or riding for a minute.
