sprockets or cage as first mod?

hey i have an 04 gsxr 600, completely stock other than a slip on and some cosmetic stuff.

what would you guys recomend as a first mod, a stunt cage, or 520 sprockets and chain?

on the sprockets im lookin to go-1 front +5 back, does that sound good. i dont want to ruin the bikes streetability because my roots are in the twistys.

i dont plan on doing anything to drastic untill i get a cage, but i just want to be able to play for a while till i save up more money for the cage.

what do yall think? im leaning toward sprockets

Get a cage first, you dont need sprockets to ride wheelies.

yeah it will work very good for the streets and go with the sick innovations cage. they are strong as hell and if you are going to be hitting some corners they still have alot of clearance to take some turns.

Re: sprockets or cage as first mod?

Yeah basically really good streetable gear...

I have a 15 up right now... not what you would want.. but as a suggestion... I am putting mine back to street duty and planned on going with a 10 up in the rear then buying a 1 down and a 1 up for the front... have everything from street gears, street killer gears, lot circle gears... Maybe I just like the low gears and it only takes like 15 minutes to change the front sprocket.. no chain change needed..

Stay with the 525 also.. not 520..

S.I. is the way to go with a fixxer....

Re: sprockets or cage as first mod?

a cage is going to hurt you if you plan on taking turns still, thats if you are out dragging knees and ****, get race rails unless you plan on full out stunting, at least i know a fi will hit the ground in a hard turn.

and stuntaid are crap, unless you plan on never wrecking

Re: sprockets or cage as first mod?

Just get a cage. Gearing is only going to magnify any throttle chop you have and make it harder to learn bp.

Yeah a drunken night planning for a beach trip helped me come up with that idea.. basically you could fit everything underneath the seat to switch the gearing totally!

Ride the stunter to the beach and then change gears when you got there!
