idle..... how important?

I've been riding a while and can do some slow stuff. How important is idle? Does it help that much? if you start using an increased idle is rear brake a make or break deal???? I've found that i'm very jumpy since i use stock idle and everything. Are there quick adjustments avalible, handle bar control? One more thing...... tire preasure? What's best cause there is alot of psi in between right and wrong?

Re: idle..... how important?

if you have your idle up you lose some engine brake ,so yea you better have brake control on lock....

tire pressure is personal pref but if your gonna do circles you should be over 18 pounds or more or you will be going through tires alot....

hmmmmm.... really? I rarley touch my rear brake. But i can roll for quite a while. You think going back farther and using brake to keep from tipping over will help me go farther? I never cared to learn brake use cause i can ride **** out without it. But i find myself wondering how you ride an unlimeted wheelie.......... That's all brake? I'm workin on a hand brake so mabey i'll start using some. Will a high idle require that?

can't circle yet but i can ride pretty slow. I'm going to give circles a shot this spring when i get another sv. Idle will help with the throttle blipping though?

I am gonna have to disagree....you COULD use engine brake if you are geared low enough

Re: idle..... how important?

you can ride long wheelies without touching the brake if you have good throttle control. but for the lot under idle, you are going to need the brake.

Re: idle..... how important?

no brake needed above idle wheelies but to do any real slow stuff you will need brake controll

Re: idle..... how important?

when you say slow what do you mean? how slow? you say you wondering about the unlimeted wheelie but for that wouldn't you have to be using some kinda back brake? cause if not you are only using throttle and that will eventually not be slow. correct? do you understand what im saying. if your not staying at a constant slow speed, and for an unlimited wheelie you will deff need to stay at constant speed. someone help me if im not clear

Re: idle..... how important?

well i can go ten miles an hour for ever and not touch the brake but that would be in first gear with a big sprocket

Re: idle..... how important?

you can stay at a steady speed with out using your brake....

just throttle because you can use the engine for brake ......

Re: idle..... how important?

not ten miles an hour with stock gear and no brake but yes you can maintain a slow [25 30] wheelie with stock gear and no brake

Re: idle..... how important?

cause the only way i can stay remotely slow is by turning my idle up with stock gearing. and my slow is deff not the same as your slow. not trying to steal thread but i thought slow slow stuff required turned up idle and rear brake control

Re: idle..... how important?

ok we can debate for days on using brake and engine brake and throttle control and so on etc......but lets be serious with out brake control your limited.the guy doesn't seem like he's been doing this long so...unless you have gearing (which he does not)or really really good throttle control(rodger)it is best if he learns how to use the brake.90% of tricks involve the back brake.IMO brake control is key if you want to learn more than just flying down the street

Re: idle..... how important?

real slow requires brake control if you go like thirty and are using the brake you are gonna boil your brake fuid if you do a long wheelie and that means all of the sudden you got no brakes .....
