180 or 190 on rear?

Will it make a difference while in a wheelie if you have a 180 vs. 190 tire on the rear?

Only difference I've heard of was that the 190 was designed for a 6in rim,180 5.5in rim.190 on a 5.5 rim changes lean angle of tire.Local shop tried to keep me from buying a 190 for that reason.

from what i'v heard, if you stick say a 190 on a wheel designed for a 180, it'l pinch the tire and it wont hold its whole profile..
so a 190 on a 180 wheel may only be 185 wide.. or so....

Shouldn't really hurt anything, except make getting rid of your chicken strips a little harder

edit: hell I got a 130 wide tire on my crf150 thats designed for a 90... Its just pinched like hell

Re: 180 or 190 on rear?

i use whatever decent take-offs the local motorcycle shop has laying around, since im broke and most of the time they're minty by my standards.

sytfuR6 runs whatever he finds laying around in my garage since he's black and too lazy to go to the shop himself.

Re: 180 or 190 on rear?

I run takeoffs on my bike with only about 19 to 20 lbs in it so they both feel the same after about a day of riding.

no absolutely not seriously at least read the first page, back on topic, you should not have any major problems, the other thing to think about is that since it will get a bit pinched it will make your speedo read off since it will increase the diameter of your wheel/tirethat might make wheelies a little bit harder but not much and judgeing by the amount of peple who already did it you'll be fine

Re: 180 or 190 on rear?

wo i didn't catch that one. Kind of off topic do you just have alot of 190 series rubber laying around or what since they are more expensive than 180 usually and have a different profile??
