my handbrake thread..

well, i was being stubborn..... but i will finally be adding a handbrake this week. i decided to toss it on there, well... because i started wanting to do other ****. ... beside standard *** wheelies that is.

i got a R1 rear master from a 2003, some vortex 50mm adj. clip-ons, and a 05 R6 radial master cylinder.

last setup we did like that was for my homies 06 R6s, and it worked out pretty good... but we used a standard master cylinder from a 03 R6, it came out fine.. kinda.

pics..

too bad the bike got demolished a few days later....

so... what we found out with that, was that the clearance was whorable for the stock clipons.... duhh and the clutch lever was mad high!! i didnt really get to experiment on it, seeing as thought it was my homies project.

well, now i am trying to see if i can make it look as clean as possible for mine... and try the newer R6 brake setup.
i am trying to bend the lever pretty good, but i will have to wait till i put it on the bike to see how i should chop it.

Re: my handbrake thread..

if you do it like your freinds then yes make it as low as you can..

and cut that clutch lever so you can pull it in to the bar with your index finger and still brake with you middle finger

Once I cut my clutch lever I really like this position. Alot easier for me on the brake that far out on the lever. I do need to shorten the brake up just a tad, and bend it in another tad.

yeah... the new yammi's well every since 05' are brembo.

i was planning on running the clutch on the outside, and the brake on the inside... then kinda cutting the levers short. for some reason i wanna use stock levers right now, i might change my mind.

does it matter wither way??? will 1 give me a better feel than the other?

or maybe it is just up to me eh?
i am thinking that the brake on the outside, and the clutch inside will be alot better.

Re: my handbrake thread..

def. get an easy pull clutch lever. best money you will spend. the brake should be on the inside, and the clutch on the outside.

Re: my handbrake thread..

Yeah with aftermarket clips you can easily run the brake on the inside clutch on outside, I had problems getting everything to line up right with the clutch on the outside with stock clip ons. So I run my clutch(easy pull) on the inside brake on outside, it works ok just not as much leverage on the HB. Oh and my clip on's are flipped, switched, and turned way out. I'm pissed cause I am going back FF and will have turn them back in some, I'm going to miss all the room I used to have up there! I plan on finding an older set of vortex, the 10 degree ones and running them, I like them better than 7 degree woodcraft or the new vortex.

Re: my handbrake thread..

yeah i got a new pair of the 2005 or 2006 models vortex... i'm not gonna turn em out that far, but i wanna make sure i have enough room to have everything how i want it. i saw with the stock clipons, we were forced to have the levers close together.... which forced the clutch high, and was uncomfortable on the wrist.

i should have my clipons in about a day or so... but, mostlikely monday or so for everything to be put together.
