clutch slipping... what helped you get it??

well i am at the point where i am stalling the bike out, and it is getting annoying. i am battling throttle with heavy brake, when i set the bike up to stop it on the rear wheel.

i went and dipped in a few 90 degree turns, and had 1 180, well actually like a 130 degree turn i kept lightly stalling it though.

my folks was tellin me that i can slip the clutch a-bit, but werent really making sense on how to do it. i kept trying to mess with it, but i either kept pulling in the clutch too much... or applying too much brake, but that **** wassnt working.

like i said, i just started ****** with it yeasterday for the first time. i will mostlikely get it, just like everything else... but what was the first attempts like when you guys started trying to slip the clutch???

what did you findout, that made it easier to slip the clutch for you??

also, what helped you guys out from being so reliant on that rear brake... i think i babysit myself too much with that ****.

any tips are helpful. thanx in advance.

practice. and what your talking about i think its called feathering. go into the turn with speed pull in the clutch a litle when you get allmost out of the turn so revs can get up and then let out the clutch giving you a boost of speed.

Re: clutch slipping... what helped you get it??

yeah, i was talking about feathering it.... but my thing was, i doubt i was ready for a circle lastnight, but i was going so slow i decided to see what it was about.

i havent learned how to run idle yet, which i think would help it out totaly. i am too dependent on that rear brake.... fools was telling me to learn brake control, learn brake control etc. **** was pounded in my head, and now i babysit myself on that rear brake.

i think if i learn how to feather that clutch, then i can lay off of that damn brake.

waddayathink?

go with practicing idle first, then worry about feathering!

No need to learn to slip clutch yet. Practise and better with brake and it won't stall. Then gear that bitch....LOL

Re: clutch slipping... what helped you get it??

u got a hb yet? jus wondering, but i'd have the part of my finger connected to the knuckle between the first joint on my clutch lever so i would be on it firmly n could feel engagment pressure before starting engagement, i'd idle at 3500 rpm for em so to straighten up i could gas a little n jus ease off when needed n clutch in to slw it even more n adjust body postition where needed, cloasters were 4k idle on standups n then getting more speed n jus pulling the clutch in. it's been a while, im starting to work with the old oakland sbf guys now to finish my bike n get back so i'll try to help u with pointers they give me n wat i get accustomed to if/whenver u may need it
