Re: Ownerships
F that, stamp the frame! It can & has been done, and with having someone here that can do it, I'd be lucky if I could take advantage of a good deal on something like that.
Re: Ownerships
Yea No title and no vins, first cop that sees that thing will take that thing away! Look for a salvage title frame and swap them out if you have a bad *** deal on the bike, but it is risky!
Re: Ownerships
THIS WHOLE POST SHOULD BE DELETED. Sorry to be an old man but hey, **** it, I'll play that part.
Re: Ownerships
if its stolen property, you can get it taken away from you no matter what you paid for it AND no matter if you knew or didn't know it was stolen. All you're doing by buying that **** is supporting a crook, which makes YOU a crook in my eyes.
Re: Ownerships
Buying hot bikes or hot parts helps support the theives. No VIN and no papers, I wouldn't give $.25 for it. As long as it has a VIN on it and you can run the numbers to make sure it's NOT hot, then it's worth something.
Re: Ownerships
what do you mean no ownership??? if you get a bill of sale and the frame is blank....not shaved down....thats one thing...if it's shaved stay away...no matter what paperwork you have the cops will take it and if your lucky all you lose is the $$ you paid for it...
Re: Ownerships
Yeah I wasn't suggesting supporting the jacking of bikes or buying stolen property in any way, that is whack & bad baaaad karma! It hurts like hell to have something you love taken away and would never want to contribute to that. I was (maybe naiively) assuming that this bike had no VIN because it was previously a track-only race bike, not something hot. So hey, if you got a title from an unclaimed wrecked bike and can do a VIN stamp, why not? It was just hypothetical chatter on my part anyways.
