Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

I've read through 1000 some odd pages of the oil problems on the 636 when on the bar and at high rpm's. Now the actual fixes to me are as follows...

The Kleen Air Mod:

And the valve cover breather mod

now as you can see.. they BOTH have the kleen air mod done to them, but this is my question...

When performing the kleen air mod, it's basically letting NO pressure escape the motor, just rerouting it from the crankcase back into the valve covers.. won't this start blowing seals and what not? or is there something I don't know?

My 2nd question is... when doing the kleen air mod is it beneficial or NECESSARY to do the valve cover breather mod? Or will the kleen air mod be good enough as is.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

Why not just route a hose from the crankcase breather, into an overflow bottle then cap the airbox??

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

cuz that doesn't fix the problem.. only gives the oil someplace to actually go instead of all over your bike. Kleen mod has been proven to work, I'm only wondering if that's all that is needed to keep the oil inside this thing? or if you have to do the valve cover mod on top of that.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

isn't that amount of hose going to increase the area the oil could go to before it gets to the valve cover, leaving alot of allowance for pressure before it creates enough pressure to blow seals?

Just a thought, never actually ridden or worked on a 636.

ya know what neither have I, I just have one sittin in the snow! Good thinkin though, there has to be someone here who knows how this this works without actually wrecking a motor.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

that mod doesnt do anything? you still need to have a vent somewhere inline to let the pressure escape..

also i wanted to point out that, that is the cleaned engine bay on a 636 ive ever seen wow.. my bike really is dirty.. haha

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

That's exactly what I thought kane? Yet i've read of a few people doing and it sounds like they haven't added a vent anywheres yet they say it's working? That's what baffels me!

how did that valve cover mod work for ya anyways kane? I've heard it still pisses oil for some, but there's that old zx7 piece in that pic that apparently works great at holding it back.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

I've had zero problems running the crankcase breather into the KLEEN system.
TECHNICALLY, the Kleen system goes into your exhaust so your motor is still breathing but if oil gets up there, it gets burned. Long coasters i get a little bit of white smoke.

I drilled my valve cover and that does'nt work at all-i blew a valve cover seal doing that so I capped it shut before doing the "KLEEN STUNT" mod.

I also did the catch can. That just makes a big mess everywhere.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

stuff high density oil sponges in the hose going up to the KLEEN system too-it helps a lot--u can get these sponges at auto stores in the PCV section. They're little stupid sponges--jam like 6 of them in there.

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

Ya? That's a pretty good idea, I remember reading that you did that in a post long ago.

How is your bike during 12's? and long wheelies? any problems there?

Re: Kleen air mod requiring valve cover mod?

all is well with the kleen air mod young grasshopper. it creates vacume in your crankcase so if anything your bike will leak less oil. my 02 1000 has 20000 miles on it. never a leaked a drop of oil and my 636 has had this done for over 1 year with out problems. parking lot and 30 miles down the highway on one wheel your bike will be fine. now go foward and spread the truth. lol

kleen mod works. end of story! DO IT!!!!!!!! just run a hose from the crank case vent into a T that will replace that psv valve and then put a screw into the little vacuum hose that u have to undo
