Watch State Farm, they will try in every means possible to screw you. Old man hit us end of last year and I still have not seen a check, it's in the lawyer's hands now. How about a new bike and new car! Sounds nice.

Hopefully get all new parts for the bike, maybe a paint job. My bike is nothing compared to Ryan's. I heard they said it was totaled on the scene 100.8 miles Nags. On a different note, the R1 wheelies like it's nothing

Again, let's all be careful guys. I don't think a 5 minutes has gone by since yesterday that I don't see how lucky we were.

Again, thanks to everyone and especially the south florida boys.
Eric, Nags, Ice, etc

Hey you know **** happens. Just be glad your ok.

Riding down here is about the most dangerous thing you can do with all these crazy old people.

Last July a friend was using my beater F4 for work cause he went rock climbing with his ZX9. Anyways, he T-boned an old man that pulled out in front of him. He called right away and I raced to the spot to see what was up. There were cops there and they were saying that were not going to write a police report because no one was hurt. I was pissed. I argued with the cop so much that he said he was going to arrest me if I didn't drop. It didn't matter though, the old guy had state farm and I had a check within like 2 weeks, a big one. The only thing they screwed me with was when I claimed the gear in the accident, they sent me 2 checks for the same gear and about 3 months later they called me back and said they wanted their money back for the extra check. I said F off, that wasn't my fault, but I lost that battle in small claims court. Oh well.

Glad to hear you made it out alright. Can't tell you how many times I've been on Nova Road in Daytona when some jackass doesn't realize there are 50 vehicles at a red light and slams on their brakes, times like that I thank God for rear view mirrors and the ability to pull up between traffic while the cars behind me got slammed.

Wow good times

Glad to hear ALL of you folks are ok. My girlfriend got rear-ended tonight while going through a toll on the highway, thanks God it was raining today and she didnt ride her bike. I NEVER want to have a phone call again saying she got hit by a car on her bike. That was one of the worst experiences in my life... She got sideswiped by some ghetto punk teen 2 years ago while riding her R6. Red paint from an Explorer on the right side of her helmet, and rash on the left.

Speaking of the worst experiences of my life, they were all when friends of mine got killed out riding thier bikes. Damn, I know too many people who have died on thier bikes...

Anyways... Good times good times!! LOL

Just being back from the hospital, I feel I need to tell this incredible story of today, the short version. After going down to see Nags at Powersports, my friend finally got his new bike, 2003 R1 Black w/red flames. After riding, we were on our way to meet up w/another friend of ours.

On the way on a local neighborhood street, we are cruising around 30mph. As we are, I see pickup approaching out of her side street, but had to slam on her brakes, almost hitting me, as I swerve around, my friend is ahead, and did not even realize what just happened. I thought to myself "wtf", so we are approaching an upcoming stop sign. I flip my visor up, throw it in N, and getting ready to stop. At 5mph, the next thing I know, we are slammed into from behind, and we are both flying in the air. I landed on my side, and remember how much my leg really hurt. My friend is up, making sure I'm ok, as people come rushing towards us. I ended being taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, thank God everyone was ok, nothing broken, etc.

I would like to take the time and truly thank the following people: Darius (Icehot113) he ended up stopping by after hearing about what happened, and trailered mine and my friends bikes. I honestly do not know too many people who would do that, and thanks bro. Sean and Pat (Porkey) thanks for being there. My bad Porkey, you were talking to me as I was in the stretcher, and I was kind of our of it. Nags, thanks for today, and I appreciate you caring about how we were. I got yelled at for text messaging you back in the aumbalance!

Be careful out there guys, you just never know

Oh ya, the lady who hit us was under the influence of drugs, lab tests will reveal later. Worse, she had her little daughter w/her
OMG! I can't believe that. AND you are sooo right! you never know when or where it is gonna happen. A coworker of mine was just in an accident on his way to work 2 weeks ago. He was trauma hawked to St. Mary's. He is okay. He broke his scapula (in the shoulder) and of course road rash. But I have to say I know you are always preaching about GEAR and true dat! if my friend had had a jacket & gloves on he would have just hurt his shoulder (which he had probs w/ the shoulder before the accident) AND there was no other car involved. Just him & the curb! I think my biggest fear is that another car is going to run me over if/when I am in an accident. I worry I will be lying in the road and another car will not be able to stop and run over me! Makes me wake up in a cold sweat sometimes.

Glad you & your friend are okay!!

BTW your friend made a good choice on that bike...I almost got the R1 cuz I didn't want to wait for the R6 to come out.

Wearing gear will save your *** hands down. I think that there is some thing out there that stunters are "squids" and that don't wear proper gear. I mean, I can see that. A lot of people that I know that stunt, don't wear enough gear. I just don't think it looks cool when you see a guy wearing full leathers, just my opinion. I guess that is why I wear knee and shin protectors under my jeans. Looks "stunty" but still have a little protection. Just started doing that and it helps for those low impact wrecks.

The state of Florida pleases me again. As you re-read this thread, the state dropped the DUI charges against her for some ****ing reason.

Bottom line, after trial, all she got today was 12 hr driving school, and a $70 fine. That is what my life is worth to these people. I am so pissed right now I am almost killed, and this is all she gets

1st... glad to hear everybody is relatively OK. And yeah, that sucks about the bitch getting off with a wrist slapping...

Saturday night, my roommate was out riding. He's a total newb, been riding for 2-3 months and still a bit sketchy. Some 16 year old bizzo in her Daddy's Lexus clipped him. He said she put her signal on and just moved over all at the same time. He laid on the horn, and had nowhere to go except the curb. Curb = instant biff... so he hit her She stopped just before he got into the curb. And he stayed up! I saw the bike last night, (95ZX7)... the front fairing is pushed over a bit, and cracked around the ramair duct. Mirror stalk is bent. Other than that, it's relatively OK. He said her Lexus is FAWKED! Bar end scrape all the way down the side of it. He said his first words were "now you know that this was your fault, right?" and she burst into tears and started crying. She said she knew, and kept apologizing, etc. But he doesn't have insurance, so... no cops were called. His side panels on both sides were scraped when he bought it. So it's starting to look like it's streetfighter time for the ZX7....

DAMN that sucks!
I'm glad you two were okay.
I'm with MISANTHROPE on how he rides.

Just my 2 cents....I've been steady riding streetbikes since 92 and I attribute never getting into a serious accident to one thing. I ride like everybody on the road is trying to kill me. I take nothing for granted, the car in front of you... left blinker is on? gotta be making a right, stop sign? they're not stopping, changing lanes? they never look. Granted I could very well die tomorrow through no fault of my own, but even then it would be my fault. PEOPLE DON'T PAY ATTENTION!!! Now in a 4000 lb SUV you can get away with that at times but on a 400 lb bike you will never win. Never ride with traffic, always look for a way out at all times, and NEVER EVER ASSUME PEOPLE SEE YOU! Trust me you will spend more of you life happier that way. I'm glad to hear you have another shot at enjoying riding, just be careful.

I tell you what. 8 Years of riding has really made me a better driver too. I know what to look for. I know when a person is going to change lanes almost before they know it.

Personal story:
A few years back, on my TLR and riding next to some hot young blonde things in a Shadow. They are giggling and checking me either because I'm way hot, or they could see the name on my underwear. Either way, I take a right onto a 2 lanes each way kinda road. No middle turn lane. The girls are behind me. I have to stop and take a left, which means stopping in the middle of traffic. I am watching my mirrors closely, stopped but still in gear and ready to scoot if need be. Because I know how young girls are. Anyway, the blondes signal and are turning behind me, so I watch them come to a stop in my mirrors, right on my tail.

At this point, I feel safer, because I know they've stopped behind me. I look up at oncoming traffic and begin to worry about turning left. At that point, from behind me, I hear a massive tire screech. Without even checking what it was, I pop the clutch and just pull forward without turning left. And BOOM! a drunk in a pickup truck SLAMMED into the girls in the Shadow stopped behind me. He pushed them a good 40 feet forward and EASILY would have hit me, if I hadn't been alert.

Morale of the story? Even when you think you're safe, you're not. STAY ALERT!

Oh yeah, I ended up dating one of the girls in the Shadow for almost 6 months They were OK. Just stiff and sore for a few days.

i gots another one (read my other story in this thread)

two weeks ago dude rear ends me on the expressway. wasn't all that hard of a hit, all the sudded im laying with my back on the passenger seat and my helmet hits the tail section. so i speed up and look behind me, i got hit by a dogde ram 2500 club cab hemi. its a bit ****in truck. so dude is hammered and thinks he can get to his house without my friends following him, riiight. so they follow him, he almost hits a couple of people on the way and goes into his house. meanwhile my bike is making all kinds of noise as im puttin down the shoulder, so i stop and take a look. this is the great part, when he hit me my rear tire ripped off his license plate mount, license plate and frame, it was stuck between my swingarm and wheel. so anyway long story short he sat in his house for an hour before the cops show up. wheelie ticket=5 cops in 5 minutes. hit and run by drunk driver=1 cop in 1 hour. so they refused to give him a dui cause he could've been drinking while we were waiting for the cops. all he got was leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed. WTF whatever, the law sucks.

**it happens all the time**sometimes people just miss a payment and then boom they are not covered and they don't realize it! **sometimes** others are just losers!

hopefully this wacko has learned a lesson .... we can only hope!

but it def sux...from the stories here it seems like the "car" driver always gets the benefit and the lil biker gets the bad rap!!

i got the whole,,,, turn left in front of me one time....

actually it was in a parking lot, so we were only going about 20 or something... flew all the way over the car, totalled the bike ( 94 f2) , i broke my wrist and couldnt hardly walk because of hitting the tank, (if ya know what i mean)...

he got a plea for a defective vehicle...

i got charged with assault and damage of property because i punched in his window.... --- i know i should have controlled myself but i still think that is messed up...

glad that everbody is alright though....

i always ride with a couple of golden rules, ALWAYS ride within my limits, ALWAYS assume people are trying to hit me, and assume that i am invisible.... both my wrecks might have been avoidable if i had done these things....

ride safe...

there's the key!

some of my friends are a little scatter brained at times too and it worries my. I too ride like the world is out to get me. Main focus is cops, 2nd is dumbassness, 3rd is bs on the road.
