Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......
I though I would start a new thread to find out why some people get big sponsors and some people get none. This is a spin off of D's thread.
https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=173519
Ok this is the place to sell yourself tell me why someone should sponsor you.....If you think someone will choose you just because of your riding skill post up your skills and we will see who you think most deserves a sponsorship.
Example:
You should pick me because I can do these tricks:
10 circles
180 stoppies
burnouts
ect.
Or it could be this
You should pick me because:
I have 40 shows booked this year all over the us including some big shows in front of 40,000 people
I have a clean presentable bike
I have a professional website to market your products
ect.

Re: Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......
If you know anyone who works in an industry that supports a sport, ask them what they look for when going after their next representative.
A good tack is to present yourself as marketable. "I get this much exposure, plan to do these things in the coming year, my image represents *this* and I want *this* from you in return I can bring you *this*" Skills, reputation, popularity, and ambition are important. There's more I don't know. I can't wait to see the responses.
Some tips off the top of my head:
Change your promotional game a little to fit the company you are after. Don't lie, but focus on the aspects of yourself that best suit the company you are trying to align yourself with. (study up on the company before you approach, they like a personal touch, it shows you are committed and are doing your homework, ie, "congratulations on acquiring *blah company* in June, your company is obviously growing and I'd like to be a part of a forward thinking operation")
Demonstrate how they can benefit from an alliance with you, and subtly assure them that you are aware that they stake a part of their reputation on you. The awareness of the impact of image is important.
Keep it brief, so they don't lose interest, and don't give up. You're not asking for something for nothing, but to establish a mutually beneficial relationship, they know how they can help you, so focus on how you can help them. This is a great topic. I've been thinking about this a lot.

#1 Personality ( You can tell a lot from this one alone about a person )
#2 Skill
#3 Are they on time and prepared.
#4 Events they plan or have attended
#5 What events have they placed or won
Thats just 5 but if you fall number one I just look the other way no matter how good you are. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......
It would be better if you had it like this.
Can they sell lots of drugs?
Can they run from the police and get away when they rock the streets because our name might be all over the bikes. Do you have a DL to go from contest/show.

It's all about how you present yourself, the rest will fall into place.
Just like a job interview. It's not what you know or can do, but who you know.
It's not any different because we're talking about stunting.

No really....
1. Personality is key. Sponsors want someone that when a fan or rider walks up to their sponsored rider, the sponsored rider will talk to them, answer their question, or just be a cool person. NO ONE LIKES TALKING TO A *****!!!
2. Appearance. If you don't look good, they don't look good. (Vidal Sasoon)
3. Events/Competitions/Bike Nights. If you aren't out there, how does the sponsors products get out there.
4. Website(s). Where can people go to check you out if they only heard about you on the "street". How do they find out where your going to be next to check you out and your sponsors?
5. Resume. Sponsors want to know where you been and what you have done. It has a lot to do with what entails in the future.
Hope that helps some of you....

you wanna know what I bring to the table? ask Darius, 'cause that disrespectful asswipe was CALLING ME asking for help on how to land Aplinestars.
Im sorry if im about to sound like an angry negative person but ill tell ya this.
I've learned that most stunt riders are all out for themselves and will take take take information, advice, tricks, and rarely give back or help anyone else but themselves.
I've been burned several times for giving out free information like that, I have a strong list of riders who have put years worth of time money and effort into my program to support me, and in return those are the riders (clint ewing, Edub whitcomb, TIGHT FX, sic riders, hell even the socal boys kendall , mikeyd and 2 tone have put more effort in than most)
those are the riders that i wanna help.
I never got the how to be sponsored handbook in school.
But i did pay my dues and bust my *** to get what I have.
posting up my resume on a public internet forum for everyone to steal, use, copy, and acheive higher without even so much as giving props in return ...your nuts!!
you want inside my head, contact me direct. an I will be more than happy to help.
ask anyone whos ever met me. this **** is all i talk about.. lol.. and I talk a lot! haha
heres the best advice i can give.
If you want to be "sponsored"
be pro. look pro, talk pro, act pro, and make sure EVERYONE knows... your pro.

Re: Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......
i thought it was interesting that thehate mentioned riding street.
Our team rides street more than we hit the lots, and proudly does so. When we contacted KBC about sponsoring us, our contact was actually thrilled about our presence on the streets. Shocked us, but we were thrilled. Sometimes sponsors actually like the idea of you being out with other riders pushing product to people who may not see it elsewhere, although i agree that some would be turned off by this. Some would say riding street narrows your possibilities, but take the Streetfighterz. They have opened alot of doors that many thought impossible, (Videos in walmart etc..._) , all while tearing up the streets running from law enforcement officials.
The biggest thing in hooking sponsors is being open and honest with what you can do for them, what you expect from them in return, and what they expect from you conduct wise.
