gear question
gear question
So I've seen guys wearing almost nothing when they stunt, and I've seen guys wearing a lot of overly protecting looking gear. My question is, what is that overly protecting looking gear? I've seen a few differen't things. One kinda resembles football gear only smaller, and another thing is made by ICON i think (could be wrong) and it's got this spine-like exoskeleton hard plasticy looking build. What are these? I'm just used to seeing the usual leather alpinestar jackets and such, but is there a spacific type of gear I should be wearing as I learn tricks?
Re: gear question
The gear you are asking about is "armour". This is kinda like football gear, but not as big and bulky. Look at it like its dirtbike gear...ie chest protector, elbow pads, shin and knee pads but made for the street.
I stopped wearing a jacket in the lot and went with the armour due to it being much cooler then with my jacket and much easier to move around in. Im not sure what i will wear as it gets cooler because i like how mobile i am in the armour as opposed to the jacket.
The shinguard/kneepad will always be on though, so i dont split my shin open or bang it off the cage when I go down, which is a lot

Re: gear question
Icon makes the Field armour gear for ridin / stuntin. I do not have the back protector yet, but plan to buy it. I have also thought about wear some type of shin guard or something 'cause i keep hitting my shins on the cage...Anyway, I am still learning so I'll wear as much gear as I can to keep from hurtin / killin myself. I ride with guys that are scraping high chairs wearing shorts and a T.....but i'm not there yet.

Re: gear question
the gear is there to keep you from getting too f****d up when you go down. pretty much all of the gear is also alot easier to move around in and 100 times cooler than a jacket. wear your gear until you master the tricks or whatever you are tring to accomplish because that one time you dont will be the time you needed it.
