would stoppies cause this to happen?

would stoppies cause this to happen?
I'm running around 25-28 psi in the rear tire. My wheels are factory that I had sent out to Cali to get chromed. They have been chromed for about three years now. I have been stunting on them for about two years. I have been doing a lot of stoppies on them up to last Saturday and then I had a bad accident.
I went down at about 60mph due to the rear wheel coming apart. It happened so fast I don't remember hitting the ground until my head hit real hard. Once I realized I was sliding on my side I tried to get on my feet three times and got thrown back down on the ground each time until I came to a stop. I have a right broken ankle with screws, left ankle with bad ligament damage, bad road rash on my knee and right forearm, and the feeling of getting the crap kicked out of me. The bike faired pretty good compared to me except the wheel has a major tear out of it that you'll see in the photo.
Do you think the chroming had anything to do with it? Did the lower air pressure get me in trouble? The tire looks fine, but once the rim came apart the tire lost its pressure right then. The only thing I can think is the lower air pressure with the weight of the bike coming back down to the ground stressed the wheel until it finally broke apart. I don't know, is chroming bad to be stunting with. I don't think I'm going back to it.

no bro, I heard it, the bike shook like a ***** and then I hit the ground! Everybody behind me saw the bike drop down a couple of inches, the rear tire shake bad and then me wrecking. It was weird!

Re: would stoppies cause this to happen?
Chrome depending on the process heating and cooling metals will make them more brittle.....I investigate crashes for a living and I have never seen this occurr!!!!
Possibly a defect due to the chroming process, Constant dropping from stoppies should not affect the rim even with lower pressure.....The chroming process starts with sanding = sanding away metal to make it smooth for the chroming, it gets dipped in an acid cleaner, and the chrome is hot - heated and cooled several times for the chrome plating, I would say it is likely a factor......There could be many other factors as well, like from changing tires the person could have also caused stress cracks using a hydrolic machine.....with the weakened rim from chroming....but see how several factors are present.....
Hope you make a full recovery!

Just out of curiosity, if you buy rims that are factory chromed are they weaker as well? Also what about powder coating? Does that weaken the wheel as well. Not meaning to jack your thread.

someone had to have said it chrome weakins the rims there for show more than anything, there was a post while back people where havin trouble with chrome rims.
