underground vs mainstream
Re: underground vs mainstream
Sorry, I'll do a search on it. I haven't been around here in a long *** time. Hell, I may have already asked it. My short term memory...something...
ETA Dang. You're right. I should use the search feature more often. I'm going to read up and see what's going on.

Re: underground vs mainstream
My guess is that if stuntin went mainstream, a lot of these guys would no longer be the local "heros" that all the younger moto enthusiasts look up to right now. The mainstream stunters would always be doin something more extreme, which would make the stunts done by the local guys...small potatoes. Seems that's what happened to FMX. When it wasn't mainstream, witnessing a Superman seat-grab blew everyone away at the local track. Once it went big, it still looked cool, but everyone had seen it already.
I think going mainstream would do nothing but help our sport. The aftermarket product market would explode w/ new stuff, and it would give all these guys w/ mad skills a chance to "Go Big"

Re: underground vs mainstream
I'm seeing both sides a little better now, after having read Timex's thread.
My point of view wasn't balanced really, because I'm not a stunter, so I don't see it from the inside perspective. That's basically what I came here to get, so I'm feeling pretty good right now.
A little less hard headed about my own opinion, too.

Because my man isn't a stunter and I'm doing a feature on stunters. I'm interested in actually getting it right, instead of doing a long piece from my perspective and not knowing what I'm talking about.
ETA What is it with some of you guys who act like putting me down somehow elevates you? It doesn't.

No, I just let myself be baited, and ended up looking like an idiot. Happens to the best of them, and I am not in that group, so it happens to me more often.
But you can keep your opinion and snuggle with it tonight if it keeps you warm. You don't know me, and chances are you never will. And given how many people you know of that I've gotten with (which would be none) your opinion is founded on nothing.
You haven't seen me reading all the threads in here because you can't actually see my eyeballs moving across the words. You only see when I am interested in something or have an opinion. Which I have lots of.
ETA do you guys not know that it's in your best interests to be nice to the press?
I love the sport and I'm not going to tear it down, but don't credit the next writer to show up with the same loyalties. Some people will write specifically to get back at the ball busters, so you guys might want to tone down the whole flame the new people attitude. It's only "tough" in middle school and in person. On the net it's retarded. And I hate that I get sucked into it, because it just makes me as stupid as the dipshits flaming me.

Re: underground vs mainstream
That probably didn't come out right. I am here for a reason, I don't need or want a new man. I'm here reading and learning and am too opinionated to keep my mouth shut.
What I'm saying about journalists is dead on though. If you look at the uproar that dumbass from ESPN caused, you'll get a feel for what I'm saying. The more popular sportbikers become the more high profile stunters become, the more journalists you're likely to encounter here. And they can be total d1cks. It's like they think they have the powah or something. And to a small degree they can affect the common idiots perception of their target.
That's all I was saying. Not "respect my authoritah"
I have loved stunting from the first time I saw someone pull a stoppie, and I'm not going to stop pushing the sport because I think stunters deserve credit for being major athletes. So i feel like you guys who just are looking for something to attack like little hungry sharks are sort of cutting into what I'm trying to accomplish.
Which isn't your concern, and it isn't right for me to tell you how to act. So go on with your tough guy stuff.
But it hurts my feelings a little bit. *sniffle*
