F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
I'd like to know if there are any BIG stunters here (Over 200lb)
that stunt the F4i and kept the stock suspension?? the reason for my question is because my suspension doesn't respond as it used to in the past (even with all the setups) there is a limit I believe for tunning the stock suspension to accomodate a big guy. (before you smart asses start with the "lose weight talk", The gain is mostly muscle, due to pumping iron:YEAH ) if you had to replace the stock suspension because of that, then would you care to share which ones did you go with

Re: F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
I feel the rear suspension is not up to part like it use to(bottoming out),It's not stiff enough (even if i did set it up the max) Maybe some of you won't feel it because you may have started stunting you bike with the weight you are in now but for me (I gained 30lbs since I started) and like M1Guh suggested it seems that some tricks I use to do before with no sweat are getting harder and maybe caused by by my suspension bottoming out (At least I hope it's not arthritis lol)
Re: F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
yeah get an aftermarket rear shock to stiffen it up and change the height
its prolly pricey though

The cheapest thing you could do..... that will make a difference that you will notice....is Change your fork oil.... It's probably broken down anyways....(I've noticed an improvement anytime Ive ever changed my fork oil on any bike )
Go to a heavier weight oil than stock (probably about a 15 weight....use the best oil you can get from a bike shop or online), AND put in as much as you are allowed while still staying within specs...... The specs usually give a range......go to the end of the range that is the most oil, and you will notice an improvement in your forks.
if you need more improvement after you've done that.....It will be progressively expensive.....and what you spend will = the improvement.... but changing the fork oil....is alot of improvement , for what it costs.
let us know how it turns out.

I have the same problem with my f4i, the suspension sucks, everytime I jump it, it bottoms out
. 929 front end and aftermarket shock would be great, but I can buy another bike for the cost of that ****. I am looking into stiffer springs front and rear to solve the problem at a good price. when I get it figured out, I will post up and probly carry the setup on my site, like I do for the 50s. If anyone has a link on were to get some stiffer springs, drop knowledge!

I have been looking around and I found this company http://www.race-tech.com/SubMenu.asp...howPage=street
Apparently they can upgrade the stock suspension with their components
by installing new fork springs and valving them and do the same for the rear shock by installing new spring!!! the latter I'm not so sure about
They claim that their racetech springs for forks are.85 and the stock is
.65 so that would help alot,But the rear I'm not very sure 'cause I heard
somewhere that stock shock requires a special spring that has the last winding reduce to a smaller diameter (meaning only a f4i spring will fit) and makes any aftermarket spring unfit.(please feel free to disagree=like I said I heard it=not sure 100%) so check out the link.
BTW the oil in the forks changing/seals and all the maintenace stuff have already been done so I know it's this SHITTY STOCK SUSPENSION
I'm not complaining (the F4i is a solid bike) but the stock suspension is CRAP honda enginneres should put some OHLINS:YEAH in there (and stop using toddlers as a test weight to what the suspension max preload should be) for the price they are charging nowadays for the bikes. On aquick note
there are some of you that mentionned being 250lbs and never having problems with the suspension and some as light as 135lb and experiencing the same issues as I, WTF???

Re: F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
as far as a different front end (very nice) but you'll still have the issue in the back shock!! and I have considered it but it's cosly
Re: F4i Stock suspension NOT made for big guys (over 200lbs)!!!
why dont you guys see for the back if you can put a 600rr spring or just try and find a 600rr swingarm and spring that would work i seen some kid had it done to his f4i
