yeah I used to skate a lot when I was younger and the cops were asses, I think the "skateboarding is not a crime" logo and shirts may have spawned out of Sacramento, they made it illegal to skate all over. we have had all the same probs with the cops being called as you guys have, but we did a little charity show for this kids group and we got to ride by a main road for like 5 hours middle of the day with traffic stopping and crowds forming and hitting the rev limiter for the police as they drove by. when you can organize a show or something like that it makes it all worth it. people don't realize what we do until they see it in person and then they can't stop watching in amazement. :YEAH

but it's not all the general public, just people that are not into anything extreme or fun, the stick up their *** stateworker types that ride a bicycle to work and think cars and bikes are dangerous and polluting (no offence if you stunt and work for the state)and that extreme and fun to them is going to a wine tasting and walking around a museum looking at paintings.
killing the streets is SOOOO fun but it's also illegal and the more videos we release of streetriding the worse we look to that group of people that try and run this world. we just gotta do things the right way and organize, get local stunt teams and groups together and organize with motorcycle shops and radio stations and put on legit shows where it's all good and you don't have to worry about cops and you get whole day of riding in with no worries in front of a crowd that appreciates what we are trying to do with this sport.

Re: Does anyone think

and another thing that makes us all look bad is lames that leave all their garbage behind at the stunt spots and puddles of oil from broken cases, if there is people doing this at your spot, be the better person and try and clean up after them and then get some people together and tell them how it is the next time you see them. tell them if they want to trash and destroy a spot go find their own and don't tell anybody about it and see how long it lasts. if we got spots to ride that everything seems all cool, don't trash them with garbage and beer bottles, cause next thing you know the property owners are calling the cops saying kick everyone out cause of no respect for their property. the Sac PD came out and kicked us out of a long time spot and said it may not have been you guys, BUT the people leaving bottles and broken glass, garbage and ashes from dumping their Bar B Q's out ruined it for you guys that are not causing a problem. we have to stop making ourselves look like jerk offs

I dunno after thinking about it the general public is more aware of things like motocross and FMX. People dish out big bucks to buy there kids dirtbikes and equipment.
I think the only way it hits mainstream is if the image is toned down a bit kinda like skateboarding.

Re: Does anyone think

true. its all about image and what the general public thinks. a large percentage of the population has to take an interest in it and there has to be a market for it in order to get famous and recognized as an actual sport. most people view us as jerks that are out causing mayhem and dont realize we are trying to take it off the streets and make it more at a competitive level with slow technical tricks.

i really dont care if it gets mainstream or not, cuz i'll still enjoy it no matter what. having it go mainstream has its advantages and disadvantages, but then again so does keeping it an underground thing. it wont be as cool if everyones doing it. if i come across someone who is really good at skating i say whoopty doo, arent you cool. but i come across people all the time that know i stunt and theyre like, dude, youre the ****.
