Peeps who have watchtowers down
Peeps who have watchtowers down
Hey guys. Was hoping to get some advice on bar length for real stable scraping. Like I see the dudes that do watch towers and other bar tricks where the bike just stays on the bar whilst pushing along at idle. The bikes seem to stay real solid and stable and they can then jump all over that sh*t like a monkey
Well I've been trying to get the right length sorted on the F4i but cant get it that solid. I've already cut some of the bar off to get it shorter but its still not solid enough to roll on its own. Just thought I'd get some advice before I cut too much off. So if anyone who does those bar tricks has any pics of their 12 bar it would bloody rock!:YEAH
Thanks!!

Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
Hey Padro, yeah its fuggin hard, been tryin hard to get them myself. i found bar was best at 12 oclock exact! i found if my bar was too wide it would wobble.
Cam used to have them, although he threw it away a few times doin it and smashed cases, even with a cage.
here is Cam.

Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
Cheers Matt, yeah I saw that footage of Cam at that show. F'in cool. Those had a bit of speed though. I want to know how guys get em so its stable at idle and can ride watchtowers in small car parks?? I've cut back past 12 now and when I went out it was less stable then at 12 so thats why I thought I'd ask before hacking it down further ha ha so thanks for the heads up there.
Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
That watchtower was on idle, I don't think you going to get away from the thing wobbling, you just have to committ to getting up into position as fast as you can so you can counter push with your feet.
What is your 12 bar made of?? No nylon or alloy plate. Steel or Titanium is good Nylon wears off the sides too much and creates more wobble and alloy seems to grab the bitumen too much and won't just idle along.

Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
Hey Cam, that clip was one of those short web slips so maybe the frame rate made it look faster then it was. Yeah my bar hasnt got nylon, F that. Yeah I think I just wanted to know if going back past 12 was good/needed/should be avoided cos I dont know anyone locally who does this trick
Cos at the moment I do have to hang off a bit and fight the bike to get a nice long scrape happening down the road. Doesnt feel comfy slowing down to a park either and thats why I dont trust it just riding on the idle.

Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
I used to do watchtowers alot and I foud that the best situation is for the wheels to be close to even (one directly over the other) ..this way there is a little more weight behind the bar while scraping. Also using a titanium plate is a huge benefit since you can idle along at like 1500rpm instead of much higher. You have alot more time to jup down and grab the bike if it does get wobbly.
Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
did you put in an oil pickup?
I tried a few watchtowers, never did a really good one though for distance. My bar is 9 inches wide, bike at 12. Lots of wobbling so a wider bar is better, like 11 inches. I have no oil pickup though so I don't like leaving it running at 12. I've been waiting for over a month for the pickup to arrive, but I don't think it's coming...

Yeah I got my oil pick up dude. Took about 2 months from Stuntex to get to OZ. Works a treat now and thats why I'm wanting to get better bar tricks.
I'm not going to have to much drama with the width cos its a home made bar with a removable plate so I can change to a wider one at any time. What I wanted to work out was the length of it from the subframe. Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
ahh... well just make your bike at perfect 12, That's how mine is and it works great. I can't belive you got your pickup and mine dissapears in the mail... whatever, I'll just make one if I don't get it next week
I crashed hard the other day so I have a few more days to heal up till I can ride anyways

Re: Peeps who have watchtowers down
got a bad wobble and slipped up on the handbrake, hit the bar crooked then the bike dragged me into the ditch. It was just a big mess
Not a super big deal, but it was hot so I took off the jacket = brilliant. got lots of road-rash and a really bruised left hip, and wrecked a good t-shirt. That was last saturday, so I'm almost ready to go. and obviously nobody filmed it

http://www.uponone.com/videos.php?id=2960 i used to kill bar tricks.. trick is to keep the idle high like 3500-4000 so you have a little speed,, the more speed the more stable.. asuming you dont hit a huge pothole. if it gets away on you, well hopefully you can run.. Forgive the music too,, that was back in the day.. 2002 i think

That's given me a good idea of whats wrong with mine. I've cut mine in too much. I can see that your 12 bar is out a lot further then where mine is and that makes sense cos it was more stable before I cut it back. I should have moved it out an inch instead of in
See the pic of mine here. This is where it was when I first set it up. Now its a bit shorter then that.

Sorry I dont need to buy bars anymore, cages yes, but bars are easy to make yourself.
