Now I expected a lot of non believers, that's fine. I'll address **** talker first, if it was my fault for laying it down or my wrong doing I would gladly admit it, but it was not. Next is DSOG I broke it on Nov. 13 when my back tire kicked out on a rainy night at 25mph and the bike fell on my leg snaping my fibia and tibula. I had a North West StuntBike cage on it that held up beautifully. But thanks for the love DSOG. MikeM it is possible I overtightend but the engine bolt wasn't really my focus. I think stock specs for that bolt are 16 foot pounds, as the MXD cage didn't come with specs. I hand tightend then gave a half turn more, so that very well could of been my fault I accept that. Socal stunts, by no means am I a mechanic, I would never say that, but I do have faith that I can install a cage with three bolts and not overtighten, but it's possible I over estimated myself. MikeM not once have I used shiney new frame sliders, however I am a loser on a gixxer. Teamclc I completely agree, you give everybody a refund and you go broke, but I sent him the cage back which only had one scuff on the elbow on the left side from when I set it down to check clearence. Oliver unfortunately I sent it back not thinking I would need pictures of the cage. Lotus that's cool if you don't believe me and think my story is made up, I respect your opinion, but I would not make up a story just to bad mouth MXD for person reason, that's childish, I just offered my story, with a little spite aimed at Jeff and I apoligize for that, I should keep it more professional than that. But I know most of you still won't believe me and that's fine. I would like to point out that I said this was my opinion and I specifically said "I'm sure plenty of you have his cages and love them and they hold up fine, whick is awesome that's what they're supposed to do."
I would like to see what Jeff says and see if the story comes out straight, close to straight, or as far fetched as you all belive mine to be. Thank you to all for the hate, sometimes it feels good to be hated on.

 

well it shouldn't feel good to be hated on, that doens't make sense... i'm not judging anyone here, but if a cage didn't touch the ground, it can't brake, that's common sense, u could make 2 tac welds and it wouldn't break from that.. and another thing is these guys start building cages in their garages, sell a few, get a business and start tryin to run it without business experience, they aren't customer service orientated and have some trouble staying on top of all sides of it.. Best thing to do is try to communicate, and if that's not an option, i guess express your concern to others

 

Exactly what I tried to do, communicate. I just was unaware people would be so quick to judge who's right and who's wrong, my mistake. I know, never touching the ground and brakeing defies common sense, but that's why I was so taken aback with the product. And what makes it the hardest is no one believes me except the people I ride with. But oh well.

just wish u had pics to back up your story.. and when u "laid" it on it's side.. did u drop it on it's side, or set it on there? if u just set it down there shouldn't be a scuff on it

 

No I had my buddy on the rightside me on the left and then lowered it down. When it was down I played with it a bit to see if it would roll on to the tail or hit the handle bar, so slight scuffage, nothing scoring, only the black paint was removed from a half/quarter inch circle. Believe me if I thought it necessary to take pictures I would have, but Jeff seemed sincere enough in his emails, that I wasn't worried. He talked about his new design and then after I sent it to him he told me he was only going to reweld my cage and repaint it and send it back, that's when I asked for a refund and then it became incrasingly harder to contact him. But I feel the details are insignificant. I just wanted to let everyone know I was bummed on his product and hopefully get some feedback from him on this forum

thats a good one. i think that everyoen is backing up mxd cause they are a friend or a customer that got the good end of the deal, but what people dont realize is that **** does happen sometimes. its like a couple i knew that went and bought 2 of the exact same cars, one for the husband and one for the wife. one car ran perfectly for the entire time that they had the cars and one always had to have somthing fixed. and you cant say that the one car was abused cause the wife drove the car that always broke down. there are always situations that might seem unbelievable but it does happen.

I HAPPEN TO like jeff's product and for what i've talked with the guy he's a good one to deal with but i will personaly put my company and all my bikes on the line for this one,this kid never even wheelied yet let alone crash i examined the broke part it was defective metal thats all,sometimes the welder gets to hot or you get a bad piece there's alot of factors there but ,i know for a %100 fact it was no error on this customers part

 

Hey...there will always be exceptions. I KNOW that there are people that have had bad experiences with EVERY cage maker out there. That does NOT mean that they are all garbage. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but that is no reason to come on here and publicly flame. As a business owner, offering to replace the product is reasonable and a normal practice. And as stated above, stuff happens..sometimes you get bad material, etc.
For the most part, Jeff is good at customer service and his products are high quality. Many I ride with and I have personally tested the hell out of them.

I think that with the timing of this post, this guy's experience probably occured during the holidays, making good timing and the ability to reach Jeff more difficult. He is Human.

p.s. All of MXD's products are powdercoated, so there would be no "repainting"

 

Pft squids...i did a burnout once...in the snow...and the bike kicked out spun around and knocked me on my ***...

 

Ive had MXD and it broke, the weld was bad and it snapped when I removed it from the bike.

Ive also had two 905's break. One bent up so bad it had to be cut off. One broke one day when I started my bike and fell off.

So, my advice is... don't run a cage. Its a waste of money. Your best bet is to not drop your bike.

 

SIC Nate that's just it, he didn't replace it, that's the deal. He made it seem like he was going to give me the new cage design and then after I sent it to him, said he was rewelding it and repowder coating it(your right he powder coats them). But I haven't recieved a cage, let alone an email. No this was back in August/Setember. I honestly think Jeff could careless about one insignificant rider, but hopefully he will atest what I say. Thanks NWStuntbike, no one esle seems to believe me.
