Re: Lunched the Kawi!!
Im a honda guy like a ***** ****a but the dam kawi is just so damn easy to ride. Light as ****, idle is strong as ****, and the brakes are the **** front and back. We'll see how she holds up. I just wish they came with banana seats haha

i think the kawi motor is overall a beefy strong package i mean ive heard horror stories as well as random good story about all bike makes and models..
i love the kawi overall though i think its seriously just one of the most potent bikes ever built...
only weak points ive noticed are the damn oil leak problem.. it spits oil into the airbox mad, ive done all kinds of mods to eliminate it and only succeeded in minimizing the oil.
that and the rear brakes are not as on point as say the gsxr but overall it works.. ferodo/brake tech have been making designs to improve the rear brake system on it. they said the problem lies in the fact that the kawi has a floating rear caliper design as opposed to standard floating rotor designs of other bikes.. blah...

its true that no big 4 sportbike comes stock with a floating rear rotor.. but the point is... others can be converted, 'cept the kawi due to the floating caliper design. Im not going to pretend like i am a brake knowledge master by anymeans.. just conveying the information ive picked up from reputable sources ie: Ferodo brakes/Brake Tech. We outfitted my GSXR with a full floater iron rear rotor a few months ago and i liked it a lot.. I had been inquiring about getting one for the kawi and he went on about how the kawi design is a pain due to the rear caliper, that a floating rotor would conflict with the caliper design
http://braketech.com/
in my experience i will admit that the rear brakes on my kawi are no where near as smooth and consistent as the brakes on my gsxr (prior to the full float mod)
dont shoot the messenger...

Sounds pretty simple to me if a floating rotor is what you want, mod the caliper so it doesnt float.....very simple and many ways to go about it. Then bolt on your floating rotor and your done..........
"opposed to standard floating rotor designs of other bikes"
Thats what I had a problem with "standard floating rotor design of other bikes" how can it be the standard if no bike on the market comes with one?
I think its all a matter of opinion anyways I feel that the 636 rear is way better (after removing the spring on the lever) than any GSXR Ive tried......
