sprocket survey

What sprocket combos are you guys running ?

I am due for a new chain & sprockets and wanted some opinions.

I ride a 98 750 with 2 up on the rear . I used to run 1 down on the front as well but it was to much at the drag strip.

I want to work on slow wheelies this year. Whats a good set up for the street / stunter rider ?

thanks , mike

PS ... I saw some kid post on gixxer.com about going up 10 on the rear and they slammed him something horrible . some people just don't get it ...........................

put your 1 down back on and you'll be set.

10 up is fine if you dont have the skill to rock slow stuff with near stock gears.

but if you wanna jump on the bandwagon, go crazy with it.

hmn, that's a little bit more than 18 over stock.

must be like riding a fiddy.

when it's stopped, can you keep it in gear with the clutch engaged?

You would be surprised how well it still rides. No problems with keeping it in gear when stopped. I can still cruise with freeway traffic (70-80 mph) and only tach around 7-8 grand.

Preston, I think he was joking like that you have so much gear that at idle the bike doesnt even move when it's still in gear

I know a local guy that is rockin' slow wheelies . He is doin' one handed and even no handed slow wheelies. He is runnin a huge XL pizza sprocket on his RR. It just made me wonder if it would make life easier with a large sprocket.

2 down 2 up on my RR. It works pretty good, I'd like to try 1 down 2 up, but I don't feel like changing it.

My question is does that kinda gearing make it easier to rock 12'ves ? I have 1down and 2up on my GSX-R 750 '01...should I be going bigger in the back or its fine the way it is ?

you can learn with stock gearing and even do 12 tricks with stock gearing. I went 5 up in the back on my gixxer just so it won't die.
