Re: Stunting the r1.

No personal experience with the R1, but I think yami builds decent bikes in general. I heard a lot of **** breaks when you drop em, but like anything else if you protect it, it will help. Don't know if 905 makes anything for em' but I know I've seen them with cages, just poke around the net. If you reinforce the subframe it'll be aight. Every bike breaks, some more than others. Go for it man. You've already got the bike, might as well save yourself the hassle of getting a new bike and what not. It's a lot easier to work with something you already know.

Re: Stunting the r1.

i just bought a 905 cage for my 03 r1 and i'm just waiting on more money for a 12 bar. freestyle inginuity makes cages and bars and so does 905 and so does powers. i havent geared mine yet but i have an undertail exhaust that i scrape intead of tearing up the tail. my stunt bike is a yamaha yzf600r with a steel subframe, so that ho never bends.

Re: Stunting the r1.

ok here are the pros and cons on stunting the bike. r1 has alot of parts on ebay, the bike makes great power, darius stunted one so its not impossible, oh and he did a good job at stunting that thing to.the frames are pretty tough but not as tough as a honda. i love them and stunt one to.

ok here are the cons. the 98-01 have a problem with electrical after a few good drops. 98-01 are carburated and that means no bar tricks. 98-01 have the subframe welded to the frame, so if you eat **** hard and bend the subframe you cant just replace it. and people say that the rear brakes fade but ive never had that problem on mine.

so the choice is yours i love them and have no problems with mine , but mine is a 2002. good luck

Re: Stunting the r1.

Alright, I hope you read this........ 905 does make stuff for that bike, in fact the owner of 905(Aaron) stunts or use to stunt the exact same body style. I think his is a 99 or 2000. Either way its carbed. Aaron did no handers and bar tricks on that thing with no problems. He learned how to do things on his own bike, so he knew what we were talking about when it came to his product.

So if you really want to know some good info on stunting a 01 Rweezy, call Aaron at 905.

Re: Stunting the r1.

What really sucks about that bike is that the frame and the subframe are all one piece. So if indeed you do bust the subframe on that model you have to find someone who welds mig, and or find a new frame. Just my .

Darius also stunted that bike. I think.

Re: Stunting the r1.

I don't think r1's are that great other than for your occassional highway wheelie and a stoppie here and there. I have an 04 and it's an awesome bike, but they are made for eating corners and racetracks. I stunt mine now but i'm saving to get a strictly stunt bike before trying anything serious. 929 is what'd i'd go with. Oh yeah, the suck at crashing, IMO all yamaha's do, I looped my r6 at about 45 the damn thing was reduced to a gas tank and a seat, my friend laid his r1 down on a 50mph corner and that thing disengrated like the f#cking challenger.

Re: Stunting the r1.

hey man...i have the same bike as you do....i have the 905 cage and 12 bar....I have a +13 rear sprocket(55t) and converted to a streetfighter .the only problems i have had with it is due to the carbs...i can do all the slow stuff on it...but if you have the bike on the bar for more than a few seconds the carbs starve the motor of fuel..so bar tricks are pretty much impossible( except for a quick ape hanger) which is kind of a blessing cause you dont use the bar as much which in turn doesnt give the non-removeable sub-frame a pounding. you dont want to break it..Sometimes just getting it up quick or rocking it to far back can cause the motor to starve as well.. it is far from the ideal stunt bike but dont let anyone tell you it cant be done..
ive even gotten 2 circles out of the biatch..and you can do no handers and stuff like that and it will run fine...if you can find a fix for the carb it works great..

maybe thier is a fix for this carb problem...and if anyone knows what it is please let me know..

if you have any other questions about your R1 PM me and i may have the answer...
