Anybody know of anybody that makes a oil pickup for 02 SV650S, was out rockin the wheelies yesterday and started getting some knocking in the motor....it went away but I need to find one.....quick!

 

no one makes them, you have to split the case and do it yourself.

 

once a motor starts knocking it is on its way out the door. Start shopping for a new motor asap. There really isnt a good way to make a pickup for an SV. The design of the engine is the limiting factor. The only way to fix the problem is to rig up some kind of a dry sump system. Do a search on the net, there are some companies that make dry sump systems for busas and gixxers but they are around 2 grand. With one of these, your bike will run upside down and not starve for oil. I am pretty sure they dont make them for an sv tho.

No, never dumped a stoppie....looped it about 4 months ago.....What the hell is a dry sump?

 

Its Basically A Remote Reservoir For Oil.

kinda like an exterior oil pan, they use them on remote controll airplanes to do flips and stuff. But why don't you just make an extended oil pick up in the case, that's what we did, it's working jost fine and dosen't cost more than a few copper plumbing parts.

 

you cant extend the oil pickup. There is no conventional oil pickup to extend and even if you did it wouldnt help that much. People have tried it and it didnt help.

A dry sump system is kinda like described as above but not only do you have an external oil reservoir instead of a regular wet sump system you also have an additional pump that always ensures positive flow to and from the reservoir.
