Police Arrest One Brother, Search For Another In Condo Shooting
Man Charged With Falsifying Evidence

SALEM, N.H. -- A Salem man was arrested Friday and charged with falsifying evidence as police continue their investigation of the shooting of a woman in Windham earlier this week.

Police had been searching for Douglas Maroun, 35, and his brother, Nicholas Maroun, 28, after Charissa Maher, 23, was found in her apartment Tuesday night with a gunshot wound to the head.

Douglas Maroun was arraigned on a count of falsifying physical evidence. Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams told a judge that Maroun hasn't been cooperating with the investigation, that he purposely removed the gun from the scene and that he evaded police.

"We have a lot of things that don't add up," Reams said. "We have a lot of questions and very few answers."

Police said that Nicholas Maroun made a 911 call, claiming that Maher wrestled a gun away from Douglas Maroun -- who is apparently her boyfriend -- and tried to kill herself.

"To the surprise of the police and the EMTs that arrived, the door was locked," Reams said. "She was by herself. There was no weapon."

Maher was found bleeding heavily inside her apartment.

Reams said that Douglas Maroun hasn't been cooperating, but defense attorney Harry Starbranch said that's not true.

"Our view is, in fact, that he has cooperated," Starbranch said. "He was willing to surrender any time they asked us to. We've been in constant contact with the police."

Authorities said they still don't know what led up to the shooting, whether it was a suicide attempt or something suspicious. Maher is still in the hospital, in serious condition, and has been unable to give police the answers they're looking for.

"At this point, we're asking for any evidence," Reams said. "We're trying to reconstruct the last 24 hours prior to her being shot so we can try to figure out how she was shot."

Bail for Maroun was set at $250,000. Authorities said that they still don't know where Nicholas Maroun is, and anyone who does should contact Windham police.

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Central Ohio man allegedly told police last week that he likes to drink the urine of adolescent boys.

Alan Patton, 54, is in jail after allegedly telling Gahanna, Ohio, police about his affection for urine.

Police said Patton goes to family restaurants and movie theaters and waits for boys in a bathroom stall. Investigators said he shuts off the water to the child-level urinal and puts a cup in the bottom.

"He goes back and retrieves the cup and drinks the urine," Detective Ron Fithen said.

Patton allegedly told police that he leaves the stall after the child leaves.

Fithen interviewed Patton after he was arrested while leaving a movie theater last weekend.

"Listening to him describe it, it's like listening to a crack or cocaine addict. He's addicted to children's urine," Fithen said.

According to police, Patton said he's been drinking urine for years.

"He told us he's been doing it over 40 years, since he was 7 years old," Fithen said.

Police said Patton told them it makes him sick, but that it's almost spiritual to him. He allegedly added, "I like it because it makes me closer to them -- like I'm drinking their youth."

A New Albany, Ohio, father played a role in Patton's arrest. He told someone at a movie theater that Patton was staring at his son in the bathroom. The theater employee then called police.

Officials said Patton is a registered sexual predator, who was convicted of rape 13 years ago.

Police believe Patton has been collecting and drinking urine in cities around Central Ohio, including Hilliard, Westerville, Dublin, Worthington and Gahanna.

What do you mean, "poor guy?" That kid should be taken out back and shot. Or at least castrated so he can't have anymore kids. And calling his girl a leech, too, cuz she stayed with him after he cheated? He's a real waste of space. It's fockin stupid for her to stay with him, but he ain't gotta point that out himself
