bike won't start

I’m not too mechanically inclined but I know for the most part what I’m doing. So anyways I put on my bbr big bars about a week ago and everything went fine. But a couple of days ago it started to idle really high so I went to adjust it. I adjusted it too low and it died and now I have never been able to get things right again. At first it would start, idle high then die, then it idled low and died and now it won’t even start. I’ve tried every adjustment screw and nothing. I even put the stock cable and cap on the carb and it still wouldn’t start. I hate not being able to ride. Any suggestions?

Re: bike won't start

OK, I got the bike started again after I cleaned the spark plug but still no luck on keeping it running. It either idles too high or too low and dies, there seems to be no inbetween. Also I've tried running the throttle cable to the left, through the middle, and to the right of the forks but no matter which way I do it still revs the engine when I turn the handle bars. I need some help here. Has anyone tried running the stock cable with the bbr handle bars? I tried for awhile but couldn't figure out away to do so.

Clean the carb, Check your air boot (high idle=lean mixture=detonation=no more 50) and rejet.

Re: bike won't start

If your plug looks dirty buy a new one. Mine wouldnt start either once, put a plug in and it fired right up.

Are you getting a good spark, is the key on, are all of the wires plugged in nice and tight for the key and killswitch (if you running them.)

Re: bike won't start

The plug looks fine after I cleaned it. But the wierd thing is I put the stock cable and cap back on last night and it worked perfectly. So it's got to be something I'm doing with the bbr cable. I've tried adjusting it at the handle bars, with the idle screw (which doesn't do anything now with this cable) and on top of the cap but can never get it right. As anyone else had problems with the bbr throttle cable?

Re: bike won't start

Check your valves. No starting is indication of needing valve adjustment.

Re: bike won't start

Re: bike won't start

i think you have the slide in wrong as well - reinstall it and make sure the side with the big slit goes over the idle screw
The plug could also be the problem - tighten the mixture screw all the way, then back it out 1 turn, put the new plug in, the try...

also, i have the bbr bar kit and never had any problem with it...

Re: bike won't start

I got the problem fixed awhile ago, I had to take it in. It was BBR's fault, the kill switch was wired wrong. It took the shop over 8 hours, so they say, to find the problem. They ended up taking everything apart before they realized it was the kill switch.
