tire and tube questions
tire and tube questions
I was messing around and hosed myself. I let to much air out of my tires and I must have pinch a hole in the tube. So now I have a flat rear tire.
Does anyone make Heavy Duty tubes for the fiddys, if so wheres the best place to order them?
Also, whats a good wider tire for street and dirt. I dont want a dirt tire thats to soft and will wear out quickly, but Im not sure that I want a supermotard tire when I ride off rode. Any suggestions?

Re: tire and tube questions
Thanks for the reply Z50. I stayed up most of the night digging around, and found that there are several companies that make HD tubes that will fit 50s. Im going to try out the MSR Gold Medal HD tubes, I can get them from any Rocky Tucker dealer. Im still trying to decide on tires. I think Im just going to try a set of 3.00x10 Cheng Shin C917s. They are cheap enough, if I dont like them Im not out much.
Are there any problems running a 3.00 tire on a stock rim? Im guessing there are lost of peeps on here that do it, I just want to make sure.
What about gearing, did you change gearing with 3.0 wide tires?

Re: tire and tube questions
On a XR/CRF50 a 3.5 inch tire wont work on a stock swingarm and tire, a 100/90-10 will clear, but only by milli-meters, it will probably rub if it expands any while riding. A 3.0 or 2.75 or 90/90-10 fit the best. I ordered a set of 90/90-10 Kenda K413s yesterday. We shall see how they work with stock gearing.
Re: tire and tube questions
I bought my tires from Denniskirk. Any local dealer that carries Rocky Tucker or Parts Unlimited can probably get them for you however. If you find a place to get CHEAP rims let me know. Ebay is the only place you might be able too.
