advice please?

i'm installing my 88 kit tomorrow and i was jus wondering if there's anything i should be modifying to make this kit work. the kit is the Kitaco 88cc, just the new piston and cylinder and a high volume oil pump. i've also been told i should be boring out the intake and exhaust ports on the stock head. any tips would be much appreciated. thanks

Re: advice please?

porting the stk head wouldnt be a bad idea
using a 70 head would be better
use the stk head carb airbox and intake
that thing ll ripp and start everytime first kick

Re: advice please?

thanks for the tips. i cant believe how easy it was to do the 88 kit. it took just over an hour. the carb adjusment to get it to idle smooth took about 2 minutes. i put a new foam filter on it, BBR clutch springs and i'm takin the head and the intake to my buddy next week to get them velocity ported. im really impressed with the extra torque, cant wait to get it all done. any recommendations on pipes?

Re: advice please?

if your not gonna run the other head id just leave it stock
airbox carb pipe just jet
i run a d&d on my stocker with a xr 70 carb and intake
and a huge k&n filter that has a built in velocity stack
cant really tell any difference gained like .5 mph more on top end flow the head might gain 1mph
porting will help all round performance dont know that youll be able to tell the difference 10% will make on a 3.5- 4.0 hp motor
but you know what they say every lil bit helps
