oil leak

My bike has leaked oil ever since i have had it but I figured it would stop after i replaced the gaskets with the 88 kit, But it didnt I cannot figure out where it is comin from. Before it would drip off of the lower valve cover thing and now it seemd to drip off of the exhaust bolt. It leaks a fair amount of oil but still runs fine. Anybody else ever have a problem like this or think they know where it is coming from please help.

Re: oil leak

yea, i had a issue with this...

when you take your head off you will see a hole...the hole that pumps the oil to the head. if you dont have that sealed off it will leak between the head and cylinder...

i dont know if this will help but it helped me

good luck

Mine is doing that to, anyone know of a quick fix or do I need to tear down the engine and replace a seal?

Re: oil leak

My 79 z50 likes to leak a little too. It's coming from the counter shaft seal, but it'll drip down to the drain bolt making you think it's loose. Fiddyman are you sure you put the nuts on the head back to where there supposed to be? I think the nut without the cap goes on the bottom right or top right? but that could be you problem.

If your facing the head, I put the brass nut on the lower right. I hope that was correct. Guess I will degrease the motha and see where it is coming from.
