Fuel line vent

Whats the deal on the little vent thingy I see on top of some bikes fuel cap? Is there any benefit to it or does it just look kind of cool?

Keeps gas from coming out when the bike is on its side, and still lets in air so the engine can run.

O.K. I get it it's basicly a one way valve. That might be nice to have. Any negatives to it?

Re: Fuel line vent

i have to believe you could get the same item at home depot for a couple bucks. There's nothing fancy about a one-way valve.

Re: Fuel line vent

at oreilly's there's a vacuum check valve, it's black and white and in the "help" section, it's like two or three dollars and works perfect..

Re: Fuel line vent

If your racing, take the time to distract the other racer and flip the 1 way valve, his bike will choke out and die.
