hand brake

i was hooking up the hand brake to the rear just like some other poeple had posted connected it to the existing bracketry on the rear wheel and using bmx cable. my issue is that:

to keep enough tension on the cable for it to work when you pull the brake,i had to keep it tight enought to where it would actually pull it and lock up when i cut the wheel.

is it because i dont have the black plastic around the wire cut correctly? and the perch and mount some people are showing, does that come from walmart or whatever with the brake cable kit?

Re: hand brake

you need to have a perfect length cable, the walmart kit has one in there that works, the cable cant be too long or it wont work, the perch is just the part that mounts to the handlebars, you just use an old broken brake or clutch lever and take off the lever part.put the perch on your swingarm and find a way to fasten the wire part of the cable to the break rod or break arm

if it locks up wen u turn the bars your cables too short or sumthing
