Bend the bars?

Has anyone just bent their bars (at the grips) forward?
I only need 1/2 an inch to an inch to feel perfect on the bike. I know it may weaken them but I may give it try tonight. I figured I could just place the grips in a hollow pipe and bend them just a LITTLE forward.
Or......... can I drill new holes in my clamp that holds the bars to move them up. Like the 3 hole set up being sold here in the stuntlife store?
Just wondering if anyone has tried theses things......

Thanks for any help,
Rob.

I've done that with both of my new fifties. Makes a noticeable difference. Don't worry about weakening them, they're already weak

All done. It was cake.
Took the bars off placed them in a vice and pulled a little until they were straight. Bang..... perfect!

Why spend $185 for clamps and bars when you can just bend?

on all our 50's we just cut the front weld on the bars...bend them forward then weld it back...works perfect

anybody just remove the small bars and weld bmx bars onto the mount? seems like a cheap alternative oh and you can also cut the right bar off a BMX bar and cut the right or left bar off your stock bars and hammer it inside of the bmx bars and use your stock throtle and brake...been doing it for awhile now also bought bakers plate and then cut a goose neck off a bmx bike and made it flush so it costed me 35 for the plate and 12 bucks for some bars...ghetto baby

I didn't have to mess with the weld at all.
I just took the throttle and front brake lever off and unbolted the bars from the clamp.
Bent them and put it all back on.

Sweet.
