need some tuning help
need some tuning help
with the temp changes ive been noticing some changes in my bike.
background info, i have a 3 week old bone stock crf50, only thing that has been done is i changed the oil and switched to an all synthetic lube...
last week the temp dipped down some and i no longer have to choke the bike for it to start, just kick it with the gas on and she comes to life, as well as a slight hesitation right off idle when i twist the gas somewhat fast, if i twist it and hold it, it just bogs and dies...i was thinking i needed some carb adjustment, so i turned idle up a little and the air screw (i believe, right below idle screw) back a turn to see results, then forwards 2 turns (1 full turn from stock in opposite direction), i thought i had it fixed and took it down the road, and it didnt hesitate but it didnt seem to run as strong, it had trouble holding the front tire off the ground, when normally this isnt a prob...so i messed with it some more and before i knew it i lost track of the stock position...whoops.
so anyways i was wondering if anyone could help me out, i dont really know my altitude, i live 10 minutes outside of charlotte, nc if that helps, just looking for some direction, i read the carb tuning sticky at the top but was looking for some more precise\direct info relating to my prob. thanks.

Re: need some tuning help
Pull your spark plug out and give it a look. You are looking to see if it is all **** black or if there is a white section still showing. Post up what it looks like or take a pic and post it up so I can see it.
Re: need some tuning help
checked the plug, black and sooty.(dry, but sooty) funny cause i ride the crap out of it, high rpms, lol i thought it would be clean as a whitsle, im thinking of moving the clip up on on the needle, what do you all think? (a flat tire has me stranded for the moment..)
Re: need some tuning help
If it still has the stock jet in it, I say move the clip up one notch to lean it out some. Or you could do the airbox mod to pull some more air in the engine, might help.
Re: need some tuning help
its ALL stock, even the bars, but i can FINALLY do circle wheelies...took my about 3 1/2 weeks (thats how long ive had it) bought it new, i must say though the street tires helps out a ton (in my opinon)
i will move the clip up one and see what happens...gotta get a tube first!
thanks for the help, i'll report back in a few days

Re: need some tuning help
moved the clip up, runs a lot better, but its at the very top of the needle now, now more slots..im guessing a bigger needle is in order now? it came stock with the clip just two down from the top.
