gearing and bbk

ok right now my fiddy is mostly stock execpt for a big bar kit .. but i'm thinking about changing my gearing for top speed.. now what i found was some sprockets ranging from 13/16 for the motor and 30 to 36 for the rear. which out of those would increase my top end.. also i was thinking about going with an 88cc bbk (tb from fab ) but was also looking at the 72cc kits, mind you that i have a 6yr old that rides my fiddy aswell (his got stolen) but with the reviews that go along with the 72cc kits they say you need to run a 50/50 race fuel mix any thoughts ???? and yes i think it would be bad a$$ :YEAH to see my son on a 88cc but the kid has no fear and as a father thats what scares me

Re: gearing and bbk

the bigger you go in the front, and the smaller you go in the rear will increase top end, but decrease acceleration

Re: gearing and bbk

if you get an 88 kit and the cylinder screws up you buy a new one there is no room for boring it to fix it buy an 75 or an 82 kit i run an 82 piston in mine and your not gonna be able to tell the difference in 6 cc's my nine year old rides my 103 with no probs, they go slow at first till they get used to it
the easiest way to gain top end is change the countershaft sprocket
alot easier than changing the rear sproket and one tooth in front is equal to almost 3 teeth in the rear buy you a 15 16 17 tooth countershaft sprokets
i run a 16 on my stocker but i also run a 70 intake and carb with a pipe
so its not a sluggo off the bottom end.

Re: gearing and bbk

Z50 I agree with you on the sproket choice but the bore kit isnt a good idea in my eyes. as cheap as cylinders, pistons, and rings are and the chances of doing much more than wearing out rings is slim to none as long as you install right. I say go with the 88 and be done with it. In two years or so by a new piston and rings for $80 and your fresh again

Re: gearing and bbk

Stunting the race head is mint bro. Just do it.

I have the TB race head 88 kit with the 20mm carb. Tappet breather and TB cdi. Geared at 15/35 with a huge tire on the rear. Kenda 90/90. The bike will pull 47mph deadly quick but with that gearing you can stunt 1st gear very nice but the sweet spot for smooth stuff is low in the revs in 2nd gear.

DO IT!!! You won't regret it. :YEAH

well fuscat is reaping the benefits of your wisdom and now is buying a whole new bigborekit since his lunched, if he woulda had an 82 kit he wouldnt have to buy the whole new kit, stuff happens that you dont expect, i think about it differently than most people i guess, like i wear a helmet cause i know eventually im gonna crash, i check my oil before i ride to make sure it has some in it,i check to see if i have gas before i take off riding i like to be able to ride, all the time.like i say 6cc's no one on here can tell you the difference in power from riding it and you can fix that cylinder if it gets screwed up, not bad mouthing fabs stuff, but when its done you gotta go get the kit all over again, instead of 80 bux for a new piston and 30 bux for a bore job
i know you cant buy a kit for 110.bux, basically there is no advantage to it to me, i can waiste three pistons before i have to buy a new cylinder
that to me makes more sense,i know im old school, but the 90 bux i saved there i can spend somewhere else, tires, chain and sprokets etc.
if you just got money to burn then this point is probably mute to ya

Re: gearing and bbk

yo Z50 not that your advice wasn't taken into consideration, but in the long run i would just be buying extras to upgrade to get more out of it, in buying everything at once from the same source will infact cut my long term cost, as for the Fuscat situation.. i read the possibility's of his problem and some of those things that i was doing wrong, in-token i have learned to somewhat prevent that from happening to me. in other words i didn't overlook your post or advise..

no you wouldnt be buying up grades to make it faster exactly the opposite
you can take a stocker and leave it stock dont have to do anything to it
with either the 72, 82, or 88 and thats what i would suggest just leave eveything else stock and it will ripp, and fab i knew youd help out ole fuse cat
not raggin on you or your products, like i said not one person could tell the difference in an 82 or an 88 by riding it youll find your chasing and spending for power even when you buy the whole kit up front.
these things suck money out of you like dracula on a good night so dont be fooled into thinkin your gonna buy one set up and be done,it never works that way, but its a fun way to spend money and time with your kids!
