Post Rear Sprocket Help?

I just bought a 39 tooth sprocket for my fiddy but my chain seems too short. Do I need another chain or am i doing something wrong or just say **** it and rock my stock?

Re: Rear Sprocket Help?

Not sure if you need a new chain for that.
What are you hoping to get out of 2 up in the rear ?
I think the stock (37T) gearing rocks.

Re: Rear Sprocket Help?

You can lift the your wheelie with no more than a light tug & some throttle.
No need to change your sprocket, especially if you have to buy a new chain.
It's all about timing, took me a little while to get it, just practice.

Have you been riding wheelies already or just learning ?

Re: Rear Sprocket Help?

i run 2 teeth up for the dirt and you really can't tell a difference when it comes to wheelies. take their advice....you don't need to change the rear sprocket. unless it's a bling sprocket and you just want it to look . you might have to add a link to your chain. or you can try and learn with the stocker sprocket until your chain gets a little more stretched out then you won't need to add a link.

You don't need to shift to lift your front wheel.
Try riding slowly (just 5 mph give or take) in first gear.
Roll off the throttle, then quickly roll it back on.
You should feel the bike lag when you let off, then it will jerk forward when you get back on the throttle.

First practice the above simple step.

Next you want to pull the front end up right when you feel that jerk forward upon throttle increase. You will pull the front end up by leaning or throwing your upper body backward, NOT JUST jerking the bars with your ARMS ONLY.

In the beginning try sitting far back on the seat to help you get started.

Once you get the timing, you can do this in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear STOCK.

Hope this helps. GO PRACTICE !!!
