750 Problems HELP! is it alright to put fuel treatment in a sportbike.
i just traded my buddy my 4 wheeler for his 97 gsxr 750. it did this once before to him but quit and now is doing it everyday for me. when i ride the bike around town and cruise it is fine. but when i beat on her a bit and do height speeds **** starts to act funny. it always dies after hard riding. it acts like it ran out of gas. if i pull over, shut it off, shake the **** out of the bike, after a few tries it starts right back up and runs fine. it only does this between 90 and 110 miles to the tank. anytime before that its fine. i alway just go straight and get gas after that. well today i was riding and riding hard. all of the sudden after i backed off and shifted into 6th if i gave it gas the damn thing sounded like a four stroke fourwheeler. like it was missing some cylinders. it did it for a couple minutes and then just died again. i dont know whats wrong but my buddy thought it was because he put too much oil in it and just a bit got in the air box. he cleaned it and it was fine for him until i got it. it does have some oil soaking into my primered fairings at the bottom and around the sight glass like he pushed some out through gaskets or something. anyone know what it could be. i thought about putting some fuel injection-carburator cleaner in it but i dont know if it is good for streetbikes or not. maybe something is gunked up. is this alright for them. maybe even thought about putting a little 110 octane but i dont know if that will hurt it either. i dont know if it is jetted right for the two brothers exhaust. sometimes now at stoplight after ive been riding awhile the idle wont come down past 2 grand where it usually idles at 1200. it sometimes comes down from 4 grand really slow. what is wrong with this thing.

Put it in.
My '01 600 sat for a while waiting to be sold. When I bought it it's injectors were a little gummed up. Ran some of that cleaner through there, took it around the block after letting it idle for a few minutes. Worked like a charm.

It's definately ok to put the cleaner in there. As for the oil problem, you might want to look into that also. If your head-gasket is going.....you got some problems ahead(And it also means someone over-heated the bike). Have a friend that's mechanically inclined, or an actual mechanic you can trust look it over. Winter is coming up, it'd be a great time to tear the bike down and learn all it's quirks etc.... Just like I told the other guy, BUY A SERVICE MANUAL! They are great assets to have. Good luck
