What kit chain should i buy ?

hey what's up everybody, been a while.

So here's the thing, i need to change both sprockets and my chain, i went through many sites and ebay and i just dont know what to pick.
i have a cbr f3 and im looking for more acceleration power so i was thinking about getting a 14 teeth front sprocket (instead of 15) and a regular rear one.
I'm not stunting with that bike (besides doing wheelies) so i dont want to sacrifice too much top speed.

what chain is the best ? DID
X-ring
O-ring
if you know any others that you think are better, please mention them.

I also don't want to spend too much (like, under $150)
but i dont want to have to do this again in 10 000 miles i want it to last as much as 20 000 if possible

I'm sure most of you know a load of stuff about chain kist so i figured i would give it a try and ask

thanks

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

Id go down 1 on front and 2 up on the back, you will still have good top speed and it will pull harder and wheelie alot easier :YEAH

yeah his "stage 1" is what I said... one down 2 up...I wouldnt change to a 530.... a 520 is good enough for a 900+cc its good enough for a 600

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

and get steel, **** that aluminum bull ****, the only thing a 520 set up does is reduce frictoin and add like 2 ft lbs of torque, not even noticible. if your not racing on a daily basis its useless

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

but originally my chain is a 530, shouldnt stay with 530 ?
what do u guys use ?

anyways thx a lot for those site, imma take a good look

edit: i must say im still a little confused with all those kind of sprocket and chain i can find in your sites.
for the chain, i heard that DK was the way to go, but i also heard DID wasnt so bad either.

ok, if you had my bike, what kind of kit would u take? i think imma go with 1 down and 2 up like one of you said (Sorry i dont remember the name) but it feels like choosing for a kit is like buying shoes, there's tons of different options and all i pretty much want is good durability for a reasonable price :p

for example in sprocketcenter what's the diff between "530 XSO" and "530 GXW" besides the $50 diff for a 120 links

thanks again

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

I have an f3 that I'm gonna stunt eventually and I kept with the stock chain size(525, mines a 97). I went -1+5 and love it. So much quicker and I can still get to 120mph(not sure, but my speedo says like 135mph, so I'm guessing around 120mph). Fast enough for me. -1+2 would be good if your not trying to go too drastic. I don't see the need to go to 520, as its not that much unsprung weight. kneedraggers.com also has really good prices, so I'd check them out.

P.S. I'm running and AFAM 14 tooth up front and a JT 48 tooth in the rear with a 525 DID Chain.

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

thx for ur answers, im strating to finally get what i really want, i think a -1 +2 like whiteline said should do it (thx bro) and i found a DID chain at $40 but there's diff DID isnt there ? the x ring for example (or am i just mixing everything ?)

and i do have better prices for 520 chains but im afraid that because it isnt a wide as a 530 it will break sooner.

edit: here what i'm thinking (if im correct this should gives more acceleration and less top speed)

14T 530 FRONT SPROCKET : $22
RK 530 XSO X-Ring Chain : $89
45T 530 STEEL SPROCKET : $41

TOTAL : $152

it seems pretty honnest to me considering that a one package chain kit is around $160 - $170

or there is this auction:

Re: What kit chain should i buy ?

They have the o-ring chains and then there's x ring. I hear(could be wrong) that x-rings are better as far as lubrication goes. You can go with a 520 if you want, but they are mostly used for racing, and like I said, its not that much unsprung weight(maybe 1/2 a pound). Me personally would rather have the chain stronger and last longer than to gain that little bit of a weight reduction. But thats just me. i know a lot of guys go with the 520 size chain and have no problems. Its a peace of mind thing with me, but its really up to you.

Eric

P.S. Make sure when you order your chain to get a rivet type master link and not a clip type. They are much stronger and will hold a lot better than a clip type. Again, its a peace of mind thing.
