Wanna gear up a bit

I've got a '98 F3 with a 520 conversion with -1/+1 gearing right now. I wanna go bigger in the back, but don't wanna touch the chain (it's a $$ DID ERV2 gold chain) ....any body know how many teeth I can go up if the axle is positioned in the center of the adjusters?

actually now that I think about it, could I just get a few extra master links and rivet the chain a little longer or is that ghetto?
