929 vs 900rr

Question 929 vs 900rr


I'm sure this has been discussed a thosand and one times, but what do you guyz think of these two bikes. The reason i'm asking is because i'm in need of a new scooter. Me teamate has a 96 900RR and loves it, easy to ride, light, and smooth in 12's but it won't continue to run on the 12 bar for very long and
I love sliding on the bar( Captain americas, apehangers dead mans. ect ect ect.
So if anyone knows how to solve this problem it would make things a lot easier decide or just go fuel injected and get it over with. If only Froyd was still alive I could lay on his couch and ponder these thoughts, but..........

Go with the 929, I have a RR, and have rode it for about a week, and I'm putting it up for sale. Fuel injection is soo much more easier to deal with, not to mention the 900's are always having engine problems, at least the ones I know of do,.

I have a 900RR and I love it. THe only thing I like better about the 929 is:

1. The front end. The forks are so much better, not to mention the front brakes. Best in the business. The forks on the 900RR are always blowing fork seals.

2. FUEL INJECTION. If you plan on ever doing bar tricks the 929 is the way to go. If you put the 900RR on the bar the motor dies out. The 929 will run on the bar all day wchich is better for pae hangers, etc.

Thanks Edog. I'm finding out that the fuel injection will be better but the only thing that really scares me is the fact that Honda only made the 929 for two years. I realize they went to the 954 and now to the 1000. I guess I'll have to put on my big boy pants and go after a 929. Not that Honda would make a bad machine just makes you think.
Just want the next one to be in the garage for a while.

I think the 96-99 900 engines hold up better than 929s. 900 has better low end grunt. Brakes on the 929 are the ****. Have to be much smoother on the throttle on the 929. 929 exhaust valve and idle take a bit of getting used to. 929 has been known to cracks the block if dropped hard on the left side. A good swingarm hit from a flip can break the back of the engine. Doesn't mean this will happen all the time but just so u know. I like my 900 and 929.

900 is a better bike for stuntin, but you cant beat the FI and front brakes of the 929. 900rr with FI and a 929 front end and you got yourself the perfect stunt bike.

OK " Dye Trying" I may have found a 900RR with a 929 front end. What da ya think?

I have a 929 front end on my 900RR and its the ****. Bolts right on. Now all I need is the FI and I will be set. Thats gonna be a bitch to make work though.
