Question Helmets, jackets and stuff...

Where does everyone shop for helmets, lether jackets and such? Online or at the local dealer.
I saw a really cool leather jacket with flames on the lower back in a vid somewhere but cannot find it online? Maybe it's a patch or custom done?

Also, whats everyones take on the "German" style helmets? They look cool but really cant protect too well.

thx

i personally prefer to buy at the local dealer just because you can try things on and if you don't likfe the fit you know before you paid for it ( i hate dealing with returns and what not ) and sometimes you might get lucky and find helmets and stuff on sale. . . and just a word of advice , don't buy joe rocket. . . they don't protect as well as everyone says they do plus they fall appart !

I bought a Fieldshear in Chicago at the bike show.....thing saved my arm when I laid it down going 60(I hate animals). Glad I tried the jacket on at the show, even though I wish I could afford leathers, the ballistics are great, I own a Joe Rocket(yeah yah, I know crap to some ppl) mesh ballistic for summer riding.

If you can get good deals local I would do that, but what I did was go to a local bike shop, tried stuff on so I knew what size I needed and then ordered it online from Todd at kneedraggers.com, he gave me some really good prices on the gear that I got.
