What do you think?

I am about to buy this bike Wed and need your opinion to see if I will buy it...It is a 98 GSXR 750, has 9600 miles, has a hindle exhaust and header, and since this is the kids first bike never has it over 110mph, and has been laid down (which I think was him but denies it, d*** squids), rode it 1000miles since he bought it in April............

What's wrong with it........
-glass on the speedo is cracked

-ram air cracked

-needs brake lever, has a screw job done and the screw is holding for the brake, how? Not sure.

Comes with not mentioned above...........
-new unopened handlebar grips (oooooooooooooooooh)
-stock header but no can
-used helmet (HJC CL-12) for $10 more on top of the price....

If buying through ebay expect high shipping. He is local and the price is just that......

Ok, no for the nitty gritty....
He says to have the lien from the bank removed he needs to pay it off. The amount to pay the bank and for me to get the bike is....$3900

What do you think?

or
Here is the photo of the damage.........

Everyone tops out their bike once....110 ain't so fast either. What was the asking price.........kinda helps justify the whole thing doesn't it?

P.S.Most the outside stuff is easily replaced, look at the guts for the hidden problems with wear and tear, like is the oil being changed.....chain lubed....transmission smooth?

He has had it since May and this is his 1st bike ever. I think he may have just been scared to take it up any faster. You or me of course you and I have and will continue but newbies get scared easy. The title reads 8622 miles the odometer now reads 9613. The kid put like 1000 miles and in 1000miles isn't alot of practice to be jumping up on the throttle to full speed and to top it out. He put 1000 miles in 4 months. That ave. 250miles/month.
When he bought it, it had an oil change and has not done an oil change since then because it has only been 1000 miles. Normally you change it every 3,000. Think about this man. He hasn't even had it long enough to change the oil in it. D****. You know what I mean? I am going to ride it and beat the S*** out of it when I test ride it to see if anything acts up. But other than that, do you think it is sort of high to be making all these repairs? Next, in a few weeks it is going to be winter and the seasons bikes will be going to peanuts.......well, sort of....You get the idea.....But I hate waiting for a bike to ride....It has been long enough......

The bike looks great to me. I would only pay $3,500 for it though...tops. Everything you mentioned is only cosmetic damage and can be repaired over time. The screw thing is great believe it or not. I have a basic screw for my clutch & brake and it works just great. It sounds like the bike is in good working condition though. I love the SRAD body style a lot better than the newer style .

I will sell you my bike for $3000 .

doesn't look like it's that bad of a deal. I guess if i needed a new bike i'd go for it. It has a clean title so that's nice. I like those old gixxers too.

Splicer, what's up man. I grew up my whole life down by the stadium. I am sort of past the Jack Murphy Stadium, well, you know what I mean, the Qualcomm Stadium. I live between Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Balboa Ave. You?

I have talked to a few folks about it and they all find it hard to believe a 21 yr old male would not try to go faster than he says so I have to sway their way. But they have also told me that it is a little on the pricey side. $3000-$3500 sounds about right according to them. Kelly Blue Book trade in value is $3985....The retail value in nice condition and just about perfect is $5575....So I think it is sort of high based on that it is in need of repair. But he said he wouldn't go down any. Would you still buy it and bring the cash in hand. Let him see it and see it flip through my hand and then make him an offer of maybe a few hunderdred less and then if he says no then buy it for what he wants as it will be hard to find a deal for a while.

Anybody have any better negotiating cash tricks up their sleeve like a way to get someone to take what your offering with it in hand and not work a deal until you are face to face or as its easier to say no over the phone.........
