changing calipers

I am thinking about changing my brake calipers on my rr. Would the 929 calipers fit? and are they a straight bolt on? Will this make a big difference in my braking?

i've looked into this quite a bit, here are your options:

1. swap a complete front brake system from a 98-99 900rr
2. bolt a complete 929 or 954 front end on your bike, forks, triples everything. with the triples its a direct bolt on.
3. get steel braided lines, dot 5 fluid (racing fluid) and stock pads.
I rode alex's bike with that setup and it was almost as good as the 929s stock setup, and a lot cheaper/easier.

good luck!

just fyi, the 954 calipers and master cylinder are better than the 929.

the biggest thing with the 900 is fluid, bleed and chage often, i use dot 3 high perf fluid, it boils at 550 and is mint, dot 5 is synthetic where this is good but you have to flush out all the old fluid and bleed often to be sure, i here it eats away the rubber seals in older calipers so caution is advised. 929 954 calipers are the same, but to swap them might not improve your situation, try a fluid swap first this will help alot at the cost of ten bucks.

i got a 95 RR, first put braided steel lines on it, then, later on, i got around to putting EBC HH pads on... and between the pads and lines, i havent found a bike with better brakes yet, new or used, no matter.... although, i think they changed brake setups between 95-96

as for DOT 5, it doesnt do a damn thing, besides be expensive and fck up a brake system that isnt designed for it. synthetic or not, brake fluid eventually gets moisture in it, and needs to be flushed out before it has a chance to form corrosion inside the brake system. and if the brake fluid in your bike looks like Pepsi, its more than past due for a clean out.
